NOT A SHELTER

@belamew / belamew.tumblr.com

Ayoooo I'm Bela (any pronouns). Just a silly little blog about Pokémon from the POV of a daycare employee. Asks are open! (OOC: Please read pinned post! The "canon" of this blog is NOT the same as the games and show)

Pinned

Hello hello! I'm Bela, 23 y/o who lives in Galar. Small island town called Hazeldale, and I work in the nursery section at the local daycare, The Dancing Mantyke.

I currently have 4 Pokémon! Snuffles (swinub), Fluffles (swablu), Boodles (shiny buneary), and Snuggles/Snuggs (hybrid pichu).

Since I work with mama Pokémon, I've gained a good familiarity with behavior, hybrids, and general Pokémon biology. Would love to be asked about it 💕

I'll mostly be posting about what's going on in the daycare's nursery :D

OOC (please read!)

Hi Bela, it's Ambrose the photographer, just shooting you a note...

[a photograph is attached of one of the Zigzagoon kits, the one almost entirely white with no stripes. From the angle, it's clearly gripping the lens with its little grabby paws and trying to peer inside inquisitively]

This little nugget's been super interested in my camera the whole time I've been taking shots around the daycare... I think if I gave her a little camera of her own she'd get to grips with it and take some rad pics of her own. Do I have your permission? :D

Omggg go for it!! Would certainly keep the little cutie occupied 💛 these kits are a handful, so hope she's not causing too much issue!

Hello! I have a little proposal for you! I am a professional photographer and I'm always looking out for new places and people and pokemon to take pictures of! Would your daycare be interested in having some lovely fresh up-to-date promotional pictures of your team and charges for brochures and the like? My rates are eminently reasonable, I can provide examples, and I can start right away, barring travel time!! -Ambrose Capp, photographer

Hello hello!!

Nearly all the photos we have are taken by me and other workers from our phones oml, so I definitely the owners would be interested in getting some professional work done!

I'll pass along details 😊

I swear that bags are magnetic for Pokémon. Can never keep them away from them.

I am probably single-handedly keeping the local Poké Mart afloat just by the sheer amount of fur rollers I buy

I hate the perfect morally pure response of "Oh I don't hate any pokemon, they're all good actually they can't help the way they are." And "☝️🤓 you're stigmatising X pokemon by publically expressing dislike of them."

What if some pokemon were just fucking evil and I hated them. What then.

Ponyta and rapidash are spawns of the devil. They murdered my family, destroyed my crops, and burned down my city

okay. i need to just like. get to the bottom of this. understand this. you people just. battle for fun?? and sport?? like. you are all totally okay just going up and challenging people?? ive been asked to battle on here like TWICEE???? and i see stuff about it a bunch?? like y'all don't just assume they're hostile and an enemy or looking for trouble you just. ASSUME ITS FRIENDLY???

As someone who tried the gym challenge in Kalos as a teen, honestly? Yeah. But it also depends. It's common for young travelers to see PSAs at Pokémon centers for individuals to watch out for! Usually uniforms or symbols to be wary of.

But generally speaking, someone who wishes to do you ill will isn't going to challenge you to a battle. They're going to ambush you or force you into a fight. So if someone ASKS for a battle, usually friendly!

So what happened with the absol?

YEAH I NEVER DID UPDATE ON ALL THAT HUH???

Someone wanted to steal babies from the nursery :) I've actually got that on video because I was filming the zigzagoon kits! And the rotom in my phone decided to continuing filming when I put my phone in my pocket to deal with the would-be thief.

I don't know why people think that I can't battle??? But everyone's safe, dude got his ass kicked lmao

The Earl sat in Greg's favorite spot and now Greg is in the kitchen crying at me

"Father is cruel, father will not remove the blue creature from my spot" <- Greg probably

The blue couch spot stealing culprit by the way

He will be in this same position for the next 12 hours (unless he falls off the couch under mysterious circumstances)

It's me again back with some more friendly reminders! This time, electric type Pokémon. If you plan on breeding Pokémon, want to get a baby from a breeder, or just happen to catch a little guy below "level 5", then here's some tips.

Electric type babies notoriously have VERY bad control of their electrical powers. Even if you don't plan on battling with them, training them when they're young is so important or else they're gonna fry your electronics.

Shock posts (similar to scratching posts) are an extremely helpful device! They're safe for your little electric gremlin to shock and rub up against, and a lot of them will make fun noises or will deliver a treat when used. The ones that do different things based on the wattage they're shocked with may be a bit more expensive, but are VERY worth it in the long run when you don't have to replace your TV, laptop, phones, etc.

It's important for them to have a friend, either another young Pokémon or a tolerant older Pokémon. Your little guy might not realize how much electrical shocks hurt. Yelping in pain (the more exaggerated the better) is a good way to get them to stop, but another Pokémon is more likely to snap back at them. Which might seem scary, but it's SO important for baby Pokémon to realize that they can hurt people. Getting stronger or evolving without learning this can be incredibly dangerous. What are annoying "ow!" shocks as a baby can turn into medical emergencies when they're older.
