i am a woman at war with herself, torn forever between my love of detective fiction and my hatred of cops and cop media
it's so fucked up that detective is a type of cop irl. it's more like a gender to me

one of my favourite linguistic phenomena/in-jokes is spanish potato chips being “ham-flavored, probably”
y’see because spain and portugal are so close, labels in stuff like food, shampoo, etc often come in portuguese as well as spanish
this brand of chips, Lay’s, displays the flavor in spanish and portuguese, resulting in ham-flavored chips looking like this:
with “jamón” being spanish and “presunto” being portuguese
however, “presunto” is also a spanish adjective, meaning “presumed” (or suspected)
so you have this in-joke going where spanish chips taste like ham, presumably
You’ve heard of “I can’t believe it’s not butter!” now get ready for “It’s questionable whether or not this is ham”
According to the company’s website, “Baking Pitchfest 2024” offers a product edition geared toward baking brands founded and owned by people of color across the U.S., and a bakery edition, which focuses on people of color-owned bakeries in the Northeast and Washington state. “Half mentorship, half competition, Baking Pitchfest is an accelerator program designed to foster greater inclusivity and creativity in the baking world by providing equitable opportunities for People of Color entrepreneurs,” the website states, adding that winners will receive financial support, mentorship, and exposure. But the initiative has generated outrage amongst conservatives online, who have blasted the competition eligibility rules as discriminatory against white people.
One X user critical of King Arthur Baking’s contest posted an email she received from the company in response to her complaining. “Helping build joyful, equitable communities that celebrate diversity is an important part of who we are as a company,” the email states, later adding: “We love baking with anyone and everyone. Our simple expectation is that everyone show respect for one another.”
Time to buy more King Arthur Flour!
If you need more reason to support them, they’re worker owned.
Also they actually are working on regenerative agriculture:
Also they do blog articles about adaptive baking:
You know, way too often I find articles talking about how the maker of some product I use is actually Evil. It's really nice to get the opposite.

If you're not aware, Cory Booker is speaking on the senate floor with the intent to continue until he drops.
It is not a filibuster, he is not preventing any votes. That means there's basically no reason he will stop before he hits his exhaustion level. He has other dem senators helping by asking questions, which is a rules loophole so the guy can drink some water or sit down for a second.
He also, so far as I can tell, hasn't stopped talking about the actual topic. No wandering off to read childrens books. He's talking about Trump and Musk and democracy.
I don't know how I feel about this as a direct effect, but I do know that the longest senate speech on record was Strom fucking Thurmond in a filibuster to prevent the Civil Rights Act of 1957. Fuck that guy. He holds the record at 24h18m.
If nothing else, I'd really like Cory Booker to beat that time.
I confused myself with math, but I think he’s at 18hours right now.
He started at 7pm in DC
anybody else feel that being human is like being a long-time syndicated cartoon character watching the world get more complex while your own design stays the same until youre incongruous with the reality around you??
Do you ever see a complicated meme that expresses a very specific feeling, and while you wouldn’t have said it that way, it instantly resonates with you?
I see way too many posts about being really affectionate with your friends and if you aren't hugging and kissing your friends then you don't really have friends and you should be in love with your friends a little bit and it annoys me so here's a post that shouts out non-affectionate friends. shoutout to the people who don't like affection or hugging or being super gushy with each other but still love and appreciate their friends dearly. shoutout to the people who find it really hard to be emotionally vulnerable and sweet but are still always there for you in a crisis. shoutout to people who don't have to be hugging you constantly to prove that they care about you
