(animal injury tw)

Ventress before she got stuck and afterwards. it will take some time for her scales to grow back and I feel awful for her having gone through this. however, her energy levels are great & her injuries look like they are healing well for now. hopefully this will all be a sad memory soon!

please, please, PLEASE be so careful with the decor you put in your betta tanks. bettas really will try to fit through anything.

while getting ready for work today, I couldn’t find Ventress and pulled out all the tricks to find her with no luck. ultimately, my girlfriend found her stuck in the little shrimp hide, squeezed halfway out :( I was able to free her and she has seemed to recover OK for now but eeee, be SUPER careful with what you put in your tanks. I really thought she would not be able to fit in there :(

@siofae she’s doing okay!! she has some scales missing and some faint red spots but her energy and appetite are good. I think the main thing will be making sure that everything can heal properly so I added some tannins in the hopes that their antibacterial & antifungal properties will reduce the chance of complications during her recovery.

(The redness is more towards her abdomen, the red scales on the top are part of her normal scaling.)

Hard to get a photo from this angle but Meteora has a cute lil bandit mask from head-on

so, we had to get a ten gallon for our ancient mouse who has some health stuff going on… after she’s healthy again, what should I do with the ten? 👀

okay… it is almost my weekend… what if I rescaped the 15 gallon… 👁️ 👁️

for reference this is what it looks like now, I kinda want to reduce the hardscape or move it so it isn’t just all along the back of the tank. I can definitely steal plants from the 20 too 🤔

the tank! I wish I took progress photos so you could see the hardscape before I planted the tank but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

all of the fish handled the change really well & honestly seem to enjoy having more swimming space.

the plants are doing well! I still have a few minor adjustments I want to make to the tank but overall, I’m happy with it <3

a more recent update! the sword in the back has sooo many more leaves & the dwarf swords in the front are starting to explore!
