personally i like it when star trek villains make spock do something objectively pretty or emotional, and human witnesses are finally sympathizing with him like Wow Spock Who Knew You Had It In You and then the camera cuts to james t kirk frothing at the mouth lunging for any weapon in reach like HE DOESNT WANT TO BE DOING THAT RELEASE HIM AT ONCEEEEE

It annoys me how a common trope on Star Trek is ‘tee hee, I’m a workaholic, I have twenty stardates of leave saved up because I never take a break’ and that’s supposed to be something we admire. Take a holiday, idiot. Especially if you’re the boss. Set a fucking example. It’s the future now and you’re better than this toxic shit. 

Yeah, no, this is not something Star Trek treats as a good thing lol. In fact pretty much every time it’s brought up it’s immediately followed by said person (typically the captain) being stripped on their rank and forced on vacation by the chief medical officer because shockingly as it turns out neglecting one’s health and sanity also puts the health and sanity of those around you at risk.
