In your Reverse Falls, The Portal Incident still happened? Fiddleford is lost in the Multiverse? And Ford is the one that used the memory gun in himself to forget about Will? Tate and Emma-May are trying to get Fiddleford back? Stan and Ford have the same strained relationship that Fiddleford and Tate had in canon?
Okay so, I'm gonna try and answer some of these the best that I can, I have thought about these events that happened in the canon and implementing them into this AU but haven't properly laid it all out so some of what I'm saying is improvised.
Yes, there is a "portal incident" that occurs in Reverse Falls, as well as a couple of other events that happened in the canon but I didn't want this AU to be a direct copy of the original show just with a swapped cast.
Fidds is lost in this universe, however not in the "multiverse" like Ford. And Ford is trying to escape from his traumatic experiences, however he doesn't create a device like the "memory gun" to relieve his stress like Fiddleford. To add further context: Fiddleford is still an engineer in this world, one of the best to emerge in his fields; Ford is still a remarkable scientist with a deep passion to uncover the paranormal. To have Ford be the one to create the memory gun felt like I would be stealing Fidd's most notorious (also iconic) creation and claim it's Ford's, is frankly lazy. One thing that I did keep is that Ford still goes on to create a cult of his own like Fidds, however he has his own way of going about lifting the mental strain by essentially using ancient incantations to "heal" or "better" himself and his followers. Not erasing their memories, but enhancing better memories to create this mental dam to block the flow of these traumas and issues
Due to these circumstances, certain events likely have been dragged out, occur early in the timeline, or even erased all together. For example: Ford and Stan's falling out; they still had a rocky relationship like most siblings but remain in contact with each other as they got into their twenties but it wasn't until Ford came back from college that their relationship finally crumbled, and would never see each other again until much later in life like Fidds and Tate.
I'm still on the bench about Emma-May and Tate, whether they're involved in this world in some way or another however I have yet to really figure out what their roles in this universe is.
I hope this covers some of the questions you have, It's been a while since I've worked on this mini side project of mine and seeing these questions gave me some motivation to maybe work on it a little more in the future. If you have any more questions, let me know, my in-box is always open.
Shout out to @samo-nkey and @leidostrange for helping me with reviewing and help bring some of these ideas to light (namely w/ Ford's role) :9

ignore how late I put this out
In reverse falls, why is Stan’s role?
Cus like, you said you wanted Dipper and Mabel to be nuanced, Fiddleford is Fire, Fire is McGucket, and probably Stan is Bud gleeful, but how does it work?
(Sorry for rambling. Love your au btw)
Heyyyyyy! Thank you so much, I always love reading comments n questions abt my take on Reverse Falls. I'm assuming you're asking about how I swapped the roles with the main cast. I had answered a similar question previously (here) about my thought process when it came to swapping the roles where I used Wendy and Thompson as my prime example. But to summarize, I swapped characters based on their opposing traits, matched it with a similar character who actually have those opposing traits and exchanged roles.
In this world, Dipper and Mabel are going to be treated as side characters, and that also applies for Stan as well. I had swapped Bud with Stan, which means Stan is no longer relevant as part of the zodiacs and Bud steps into the light as one of the main characters.
I wanted to stay somewhat true to their characters in the original show by keeping their interests and specialties that made them stand out as characters. For example, I kept the idea that Bud still owns a crappy auto shop, but in a "Stan Fashion" he would sell these cars for outrageous prices as a classic conman. Bud is still Bud in a sense, but the way he carries himself is similar to Stan in Gravity Falls (if he was a country man).
I haven't revealed what Stan is actually doing in this AU, but what I had in mind was that he was Mabel and Dipper's TV/Movie director. He handles the behind-the-scenes work to make sure everything runs smoothly to keep that money rolling. He may not be a main character anymore, but just like Bud in the OG show, he's got something to hide behind that warm facade.
I hope this answers your question, if you ever have any more questions I can do my best to get back to you :D
These OCs belong to @jaypainless
Been a minute since I actually posted, time to lock tf IN
I could swear I had sent this ask before, so apologies if I did and you just haven't answered it yet feel free to erase this one if so but:
MAN I LOVE YOUR REVERSE FALLS DESIGNS. Truly, the one Bud design that doesn't look as a last minute thrown in because you 'had' to add him. I'm very intrigued by the swaps you made and considering your previous Reverse Falls post I'm guessing each will have some pretty interesting personalities
All of this to ask: What are some tid bits you could give about your Zodiac characters?
Hiiiiiii! Sorry, yeah i saw your ask before and I've been getting sidetracked to answer you. Thank you so much! I really appreciate your words this was a lot of fun to redraw these characters in my take for Reverse Falls.
In this alternate universe, it's set in the busy, timeless town of Reverse Falls in the western region of California. Founded by Archibald Corduroy; this town is known to be the epicenter of conspiracies and paradoxes. This is where Bud runs "Glooms Auto," an auto-shop that definitely overcharges unfortunate customers who roll in just for an oil change.
Among the cast, I kept the swap with Pacifica, Gideon, Bud, and Deuce with Mabel, Dipper, Stan, and Soos. But some new roles i swapped were with Thompson ⇄ Wendy, Tambry ⇄ Robbie, and Fiddleford ⇄ Ford.
When I was changing the roles for each of the zodiacs, I kept referring back to the original show's cast for reference. My main thought I kept in mind was "what characters have traits that oppose the main cast?" One prime example: Thompson and Wendy.
Thompson switching with Wendy in this universe felt like an equal role swap to me. Thompson was always seen as the sheep, someone who was susceptible to peer pressure so easily verses someone as strong-willed and cool as Wendy, who was considered the leader of their friend group. I've seen variations where Robbie was swapped with Wendy but Robbie being "the Wendy" here didn't necessarily feel right because he is considered one of the cooler guys in the group, which is why I gave Thompson the Ice Bag zodiac.
Although most of the zodiacs are depicted in a literal manner in the original show, I wanted to try and give it a bit of deeper thought about how each of the characters fulfill their zodiacs. I always felt like the zodiacs lacked in the show and never really felt that some of these characters truly earned those places. Like Pacifica's llama; in dreams llamas typically represent strength and determination, and are also known in many cultures to represent community and connection. Although we never got to see Pacifica show that she was relevant to the overarching plot when it came to defeating Bill, and we did get to see her character develop further in the comics, I just felt like there could've been more if given the chance as well as the rest of the zodiacs.
I hope this makes up for the delay, I'm always open to answer more questions and I'll try to respond sooner :D
