Can we talk about how a seriously concerning number of people are drawn to social justice not out of the goodness of their hearts but because there are prevalent circles within the social justice community that actively reward and encourage behavior that is nearly indiscernible from bullying and harassment with reassurance that it's the 'right and just' kind?

these tags r too accurate to not include

Hope you don't mind that I included your tags, I've seen this exact thing. I've even been on the receiving end of this stuff just for refusing to go along with callout post culture.

Today I learned that there was a cheese goddess (from the podcast Gastropod’s “Say Cheese” episode), but more importantly, she was worshipped by trans and GNB people.

Emergency cheese facts!

Pride was originally a riot. It's not supposed to be "family-friendly". Those who want family-friendly LGBT spaces are free to just create them. Take places that are already family-friendly and make them LGBT-friendly also. If you don't want to do that, then that's why Pride is still necessary.

This porno didn’t fuck around

there’s… a lot to take in here…

I was so flummoxed by this I had to learn more, so I took to Google, where I found this blog post by Dan Cardone, who was a grip on this film. Some highlights:

This was the first set I had been on that featured three directors, and hopefully the last. One director was there to primarily film the sex scenes, which he did effectively and economically. The other two directors handled what is called in porn-lingo ‘B-Roll’, i.e. everything non sexual. Which on this film was substantial. The plot for To The Last Man involves two ranches populated entirely by horny men who have random sex and feud over water, as they are in the middle of a crippling drought. Which is why we filmed in Arizona during thunderstorm season…
It’s amazing no one got killed, or seriously injured. There was horse riding, there were fight scenes of rocky escarpments, there were drownings. When the real guns and live ammunition came out for a scene I thought, “That’s it, I’m going back to the truck”.
Fortunately, one of the models was also a fully qualified nurse, so that saved money, time and also lives. Plus, he was sexy, so it was win/win.

Get yourself a fabric store that will light your fabric on fire for you

No but legit I asked what the fiber content of something was and the guy didn’t know so he cut a chunk off and lit it on fire and felt the ashes and was like. Yeah this is mostly cotton with a lil bit of silk. And that was the moment I knew. This is it. This is the fabric store for me. Also that guy is marriage material. Not for me but damn some person is gonna be so happy with him.

Ok but this is actually one of the easiest ways to tell what something is made of! I did a textiles degree and one day as part of a class we all went outside with a pile of scrap fabric and set fire to the little pieces and recorded how they burned. We were given a chart that looked something like this to tell what each fabric was (it gets a little tricky is it’s a mix of fabrics though). Why did we do this? There is very little regulation in the textiles industry so a lot of materials are mislabelled as something they aren’t and sold for more than they should be, also sometimes people buy fabric second hand or discounted which doesn’t have any label at all. If you have a fabric you are having doubts about, cut a tiny piece off and do the burn test and you should know pretty fast what you are dealing with. Anyways your fabric store should be lighting things on fire because this means that they are actually checking what the fabrics are and aren’t trying to pass cheap stuff off as more expensive than it is.

Ooh! I knew it was a standard test but I hadn’t seen a chart as detailed as this thank you!

This also works on yarn!!!

Y'know, some people do have a strong crying response to stress, and they might cry (even against their own will) when faced with an upsetting situation and that doesnt mean they are "gaslighting" or "manipulating" you.

There are people who use crying as a manipulation tactic? Absolutely. But that doesn't mean that every person that cries during a heated argument is trying to get under your skin. They have their own emotions and issues, and frankly, not everything other people do is a personal attack on you.

Jfc I am not surprised OP got shitty responses, but like, if your reaction to this post is to immediately look for ways in which you can misinterpret and misapply it in order to be self-righteous on the internet, then I have some terrible news for you about who is actually engaging in incredibly manipulative and dishonest behaviour here. Hint: it’s not OP and it’s not people who cry easily.

get okay with being some level of burden on others, seriously

you know what’s a real burden? a person that is so scared of leaning on other people that they try to be completely self sufficient and you end up either having to help them indirectly to save their ego or they have to break down in order to receive help, both of which are so much more heavy to the person that loves them than just being leaned on casually

EDDIE. EDDIE IT’S PEOPLE. EDDIE WE’RE EATING PEOPLE.

I AM LIVING FOR THIS

Venom: “Eddie. Eddie that is a human.”

Eddie: “Yes Venom, Hannibal Lecter is a hu-”

Venom: “No, that is a human, ON YOUR PLATE.”

Eddie:

Venom:

Eddie: “…nope. Nope. Nu-uh. V, eat him and I’ll buy you McDonald’s.”

Venom: *gets up and throws the whole table to tackle Lecter:

“CHICKEN NUGGETS”

i immediatly went looking to ao3 for this and surprise surprise, i found 7 fics following this premise/inspired by this post:

"you can't ship that, it'll never be canon!"

look, when I was your age, we shipped characters who never even met in canon. uphill. both ways. in the snow.

My people used to make music videos shipping people from completely different shows with no chance of a crossover. Don't fucking talk to me about noncanon ships. You know nothing of noncanon ships.

i wish there was a site that was like. video game hints. that were less walkthroughs and more “it’s in this general area” or “this puzzle is easy if you picked up all seven clues. are you missing one?” or “don’t forget you can [mechanic].” sometimes im stumped but i dont want someone to just tell me the answer…

In a similar vein there is Before I Play which is a site that has contributions to kind of give you a heads up on stuff you probably would’ve liked to know ‘before you played’.

Warning that there may and will be spoilers, though they try to avoid them mostly.  It’s a good resource if you constantly worry you’re missing something important or doing thing wrong.

People keep posting about how bad they feel in December and I'm sure for many people in the northern hemisphere that IS a wintertime thing, sure enough, but

Have you considered?

December is also Big Routine Disrupt Time.

Everyone wants a piece of you in December. Public holidays. Family events. SOMEONE is bound to be drunk. You have to travel. Your workplace either goes into overdrive or becomes a ghost town. You have a list of obligations as long as your arm all happening at once.

Your routine is being disrupted by outside forces and it won't slow down until. Like. Mid January at best. 💀

genuinely delighted to see so many other people hate this time of year for SO many reasons

The Actual Meaning of #DropTheB

So, #droptheb has been blossoming as a movement recently.

Well, or, that’s what its postermakers would like you to think.

Basically the idea is based off of that one meme recently:

which is a completely idiotic slopfest on its own but that’s a different thing.

Basically someone on 4chan had the bright idea to make posters turning that from a shitty meme into a good facsimile of an inter-lgbt movement.

The posters look like this:

…yeah.

There are like seventeen of them floating around on twitter, and they’re actually working. This is because they’re made to target exclusionists, anti-MOGAI ppl, etc. who see everything new they don’t understand as MOGAI nonsense. To them, this seems exactly like something their oh-so-terrible MOGAI enemies would spit out. It’s also hinging on the recent discourse that’s been happening about why bi or pan are or are not valid labels.

The people who are doing this know what they’re doing, and they’re well informed about current discourse. That’s why it’s working.

Now, a 4chan movement to intentionally destabilize the LGBT community built on current discourse combined with invasive ideas expressed via digital posters on Twitter? Doesn’t that sound remarkably familiar?

Oh right, that’s because 4chan has done the exact same thing before justifying pedophiles being in the LGBT community using the term “clovergender”, which may I remind you was based off of

the 4chan logo itself.

Here are some screenshots from a Reddit post on the topic, with whitespace cropped out.

As you can see, even 4channers are tired of this shit.

#droptheb is an even scarier beast than clovergender, and that’s because of two reasons: Firstly, it works very well as a catalyst for preexisting tensions due to the bi/pan discourse. It’s provoking responses from many exorsexists and nb exclusionaries as well as bisexuals attracted to more than two genders.

Secondly, it’s spreading much faster than the clovergender “movement” ever did, and working very well to provoke discourse. I’ve seen it very earnestly argued over in places on Tumblr and Facebook as if it’s unironic, and people need to understand its true nature.

And I don’t need to mention the obvious, right? That to be bilingual doesn’t mean there are only two languages?

Anyway, I don’t often reblog bait, but I would like you and anyone else reading this to reblog in order to spread awareness of #droptheb’s malicious intent and its success in dividing the LGBT community. People need to be aware of this before it destroys the community.

Feel free to not answer if you want the ace stuff to die down, but I appreciate your depiction of asexuality because it's not my experience. I'm aroace and incredibly sex-repulsed, but I want to not be, not for myself but for my friends. I'm content with my current identity and what it means for my life, but I want to become more comfortable with the mere concepts of sex and romance so that when my friends excitedly update me on their allo relationships, I can be happy for them. Throughout all of college, whenever a friend told me about their new date, it made me cry. And that's not fun! I want to be happy when my friends are happy! It doesn't drive me to tears anymore, but it took a lot of ongoing work to internalize the idea that sex exists and it's fine, and part of that is thanks to stuff like your art. Seeing that an ace person can joke about an innuendo or create a sexual story while still being ace is just what I needed. It's like a bridge between my completely aroace ass and whatever the hell "hot and bothered" is supposed to mean, and a fellow ace being the guide exemplifying that we can all coexist is even better.

Does this make sense? It's 8am and I need to go to bed, but I've been debating saying something every time this comes up. Your Jon is great. Seeing an ace comfortable with their relationship with relationships is still inspirational even when it's not my exact experience in life. It's people like you that helped me get to the point where I could be in my friend's wedding photos with a smile. And just this week, I thought a guy in a movie looked cute, and not only am I ace enough to remember this is only the fourth time this has ever happened, but it wasn't a week-long source of stress like the first three. Turns out people can be cute and the world doesn't end, TMA notwithstanding :)

I'm glad to hear that! And yeah, I personally have gone through a lot of thinking and questioning myself and had to trawl through forums and resources to get the input of older more experienced ace people and the verdict is, if you feel ace, then you're ace. If you don't feel ace anymore, that's okay too. I like to draw and joke about sex stuff. That shouldn't reflect my own sexuality, I think. To me, it's just another type of character interaction I can write about. Think, a straight person enjoying gay romance or a gay person enjoying a heterosexual pairing. And I like being able to joke about it with ace and non-ace friends even if I personally don't want to be in that situation. I think I'm allowed to say "Oh this person is hot and bangable" even though I personally wouldn't. We're not nuns. We shouldn't get punished for appreciating a nice-looking body. Like, I used to draw live nude sketches and I learned there how beautiful nakedness and body positivity can be (though I wish more people of different bodytypes would model for us...) and I think everyone should learn to appreciate a nice sensual body like Martin's without the automatic assumption that I want to have sex with them unless it's Martin and he's bottoming but he doesn't exist sadly
