The theme of the eleventh Object Head Zine is “MAGIC AND FANTASY”.

(Illustration by TheHoleyness, concept/sketch by Potentialforart) Embrace the swirling magic inside as you summon power from the depths, awaken the sleeping strength to battle strong foes, and venture forth to adventure - this year's zine wants you to pull forth your imagination and seize fantasies beyond your wildest dreams! Feel free to pick whatever genre you'd like; there's plenty to choose from!

This book will feature 35 people I’ve selected, plus 35 open slots available to the public for a total of 70 participants! This year’s zine is a PAID OPPORTUNITY of $115 USD per page (an increase from previous years!). Participants will be paid as soon as they complete their piece  (give or take a week for PayPal to transfer funds). There will be a pre-order sale to cover the costs of printing and shipping.

The 35 pre-selected participants are:

The guidelines are as follows:

  • Illustration-quality works in either digital or traditional mediums. Both colour and b/w acceptable; background required. *BG can be as simple as a pattern or colour block!
  • 6”x9”, 300 DPI illustrations with a 1/8th inch bleed (FINAL DIMENSIONS SHOULD BE 6.25” x 9.25”) Works must be in CMYK, and in a vertical format only.
  • At least one (1) work in progress picture should be sent in with your final illustration.
  • For consistency’s sake, keep faces to a minimum (You can have eye(s) or you can have mouth(s) but don’t have both in a humanoid arrangement.)
  • Original characters only (yours or your friends’).
  • You can include humans or other creatures, as long as there’s a 1:1   object head to non-object head/human ratio.
  • This book is for all ages. PG-13 content at the most! Cartoon violence and blood are acceptable, but realistic gore is NOT. Use your common sense. If you’re unsure, run the idea by me.
  • Completed illustrations must be sent as a flattened psd or tiff file

There  are only 12 slots for comics available due to page count space so if you apply for a comic space, and you are selected, you may not be picked for comics but instead illustration!

If you have any questions about the zine, feel free to send an email to objectheadzine(@)hotmail(.)com. I’ll do my best to reply promptly. If you haven’t received a response from me, please feel free to send it again. There are a few essential questions answered over at the FAQ. There is also a Twitter account for the zine for frequent updates and WIPs of the book!

Applications are due June 2nd, 2024, 11:59 PM, PST.

Edit: The google form was not letting people submit applications, I've remade the form - let's hope it works now!

Can you please show off finne's sprite?? 💗💗💗

This is sooooo old but I wanted to answer it so yes :3 here is Finne's sprite on the world I've played the most on (of course, I've restarted the game a few times and made him everytime~) I should have showcased it more but the way his hat interacts with his hair makes it look like he has a leaf sticking out of it...!

SAKANA IS BACK.

That's right, folks. They said it COULDN'T BE DONE. They said it would NEVER HAPPEN. Well guess what, I'M TOO STUBBORN FOR THAT.

Check out Chapter 25, starting September 5th, at 9:30am est! The site got a big facelift too! wow!!

Hey, long time no post on this account! In case you haven't heard, SAKANA IS RETURNING! Nearly 4 years since the last comic post, I am dragging my carcass back into the webcomics scene after finishing a whole graphic novel and the first chapter of an adult series.

Aside from new pages (there are already 10 in the buffer! wow!) I'm also doing a site refresh and updating the cast page for the first time in maybe 10 years. Here's the first batch of fresh faces (and a sneak peek at the new color scheme!)

Thanks for sticking with me all this time! I need to finish the website, fix some navigation problems, and grow the buffer a little more, but I'm hoping to restart updates in time for my fall conventions.

WELCOME TO THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE OBJECT HEAD ZINE!

In celebration, the 2024's edition will be a Grab Bag - draw whatever object head you like (so long as it fits the guidelines, see below). In Lieu of a theme, all submissions MUST HAVE ASHLEY (the megaphone mascot) in the piece! Feel free to make him as large or as small as you want in the composition. He can be hanging out with your characters or he can be on a flyer, just so long he's somewhere in the picture! Reference of all his outfits can be found here. But don't feel like you're restricted to his previous outfits. Feel free to dress him up in anything you'd like. Content is also free for whatever! You want to date the lil man? Go for it! You want to tease or go on the attack? Also fine! Ignore him and let him live his life? Sure thing.

ALL submissions will be accepted as long as they fit guidelines and each person has a limit of up to 3 submissions. Submit your pieces to the zine email objectheadzine(@)hotmail(.)com along with the email/website/name you’d like to be credited as. (Feel free to omit emails if that is more comfortable). When you’ve finished your piece(s), you are allowed to post them to your blogs as long as you link back to the zine blog! This will be a DIGITAL ZINE ONLY and will be available free upon completion (donation optional).

The guidelines are as follow:

  • Illustration-quality works in either digital or traditional mediums. Both colour and b/w acceptable; background required. *BG can be as simple as a pattern or colour block! Avoid utilizing a camera to submit your images, please use a scanner.
  • The default size will be 6″x9″, 300 dpi (1800px x 2700px) but feel free to go larger or smaller, so long as it follows those proportions. Please work in a vertical format.
  • For consistency’s sake, keep faces to a minimum (You can have eye(s) or you can have mouth(s) but don’t have both in a humanoid arrangement.)
  • Ashley, the megaphone head mascot, must be included in your piece. He can be small in the picture or a large factor but he must be included. When submitting, if he is not obvious, please point him out to me. References are found here.
  • Please go for original characters (or fanart of your friend’s characters) and not so much established object heads (e.g. the popcorn and soda heads from No More).
  • If you want to include humans, that’s fine as well but keep the ratio of people to object heads 1:1.
  • Content should be at most PG-13: Romance is fine but after-hours business should not be implied, Blood is fine but no gore. In the end, use your common sense.
  • Feel free to draw a comic or just an illustration! A comic counts as one submission.

Some facts about Ashley that could help with your piece: He's 5'2", he's of Chinese nationality, he's a TV show host, he's a bubbly, happy-go-lucky kind of guy and he has a Samyoed dog named Cotton!

Note that if a submission does not meet the above guidelines, I will either reject your submission or suggest improvements that would help your piece fulfill them. Please email me at objectheadzine(@)hotmail(.)com if you have any further questions and I’ll do my best to reply promptly. If you do not receive a message from me within a few days, please send it again. Final pieces submitted should be either in PNG or a one layer PSD file format.

THE DUE DATE FOR SUBMISSIONS IS NOVEMBER 9TH.

Anonymous asked:

do u still post ososan fanart?

Sadly it's been a good long time since I've drawn or posted any ososan fan art anon-chan! I still love it a lot but I've been focusing more so on my work and personal projects! I've got plenty backlogged tho if you'd like to take a gander. I'm glad you found my art and are interested in it! Thanks for looking!

I would love to buy a print of your Junimo picture, but I don't see it for sale in your store. Do you ever sell prints?

Avatar

Heya! Thank you so much for the interest, I do on occasion sell prints in my Redbubble, and I’d like to someday sell actual prints that I make and ship myself.

However for that Junimo drawing in particular I don’t plan on selling prints of it online--Most stardew valley stuff is heavily monitored on redbubble (or at least it was last time I checked!) and so I can’t post it without it just getting taken down again!

That and also I just don’t feel right selling prints of it. I’d rather folks support stardew directly by buying official merch! I know that’s somewhat unrelated in a lot of ways but it’s how I generally approach indie stuff!

Thanks again for the interest!

Is there any big differences working on something like a comic for a company versus a commission for an artist?

Avatar

Yes! There are a few differences I’d say. Primarily in the formality of the process, as well as in regards to copyright and distribution.

At their core the concepts are the same, someone is hiring an artist to draw something, and that artist is not considered an employee of the person or company and therefore is not provided any of the benefits or scheduling that the company or employer may provide. But that’s where the similarities end I would say!

The differences are mostly found in the initiative of the artist.

When an artist is offering commissions they are typically the one offering a service that has it’s own terms and agreements. On the flips side, when artist works for a company drawing comics or illustrations, typically it is the company that is providing the terms and agreements usually in the form of a voucher or contract.

In essence when an artist offers commissions they set the rules. When a company hires an artist, the company sets the rules.

It’s actually quite hard to explain and there are a lot of nuances I can’t really cover since I’m not the most fluent in legal jargon, but that’s how I like to think of it!

In addition to the 144 page book, chock full of everyone’s beautiful illustrations, comics, and wips, we also have a selection of holographic prints, acrylic charms, transparent stickers and enamel pins available for you to order! We even have the previous zine PDFs available in a couple bundles!

The main purpose of this fundraiser is to raise additional funding for our artists. Our goal is to raise an additional $50 CAD per page to each artist because our artists are worth it! This Kickstarter will also compensate for shipping everyone’s books via White Squirrel, paying for Kickstarter and credit card fees and finally, having a cushion fund in case things get a little more expensive than initially thought.

Thanks, everyone, for your continuous support and encouragement. Let’s make this a success!

Please considering supporting this incredible project! It’s all passion!!

Anonymous asked:

Do you remember when you drew Emiliano and Elios in those royal masquerade outfits? What is that type of fashion called?

This was asked soooooo sooo long ago so I doubt this is still going to be useful to you specifically anon--but maybe someone else is curious or maybe this could be of help to someone else??

I assume you’re referring to these outfits?

The style I was inspired by is that of the Venice Carnival in, obviously, Italy! That was the prompt our GM gave us for these costumes.

My designs are clearly much simpler/not totally accurate to the style but that’s because they’re only loosely based on it! If you just search “Venice Carnival” Or “Venetian Carnival” you’ll get these results!

(As I side note, I get soft when people refer to my OCs by name...Thank u for the soft feels anon.)

Anonymous asked:

Do any of your non-team gijinkas have names? For instance, I like to imagine your detective Staraptor as "Sterling", as it's similar enough to Staraptor, sounds cool, fits well with a diamond/pearl/platinum theme, and creates a silver/gold contrast with his partner (who I currently have pegged as Vermeil?). Anyways sorry for gushing and making this awkward, I just love your designs and characters. And good work on TMNT!

fskdjnfd Thankyou for the kind words anon!! I’m always surprised when I get asks that seem to entail someone is keeping up with my work--I really appreciate it since I’ve been so spotty in my activity!!

As for names--You know--they don’t actually have any! I never really thought to name them for some reason--I guess I just assumed they’d be one off kind of drawings but well...We’ve discovered that’s just not the case!!!

I quite like the idea of naming my Staraptor Gijinka Sterling....I think it’s appropriately regal and kind of classic for a regal classic guy. I’ll sanction that as canon! I’ll have to think of names for the others ones now...

I don’t like to ask for promos and all, though since it seems I’m still shadowbanned and I’ve been trying to ask Support about that (it doesn’t seem to be due to nsfw)…I guess this is the first time I’ll be asking for one in about the 5 years -san’s been here, out of that necessity to try and reach out and see who’s here.

So, if you know anyone that wants to follow blogs for season 3, hi. Can’t promise a lot of quality, but I’ll do what I can! And do you know any others that might be good to pass along news about?

Looking for some more blog recs if you got any, and reblogging this along to remind that for some reason I can’t get Support to help out much
