LEIGHTON MEESTER for Edie Parker x ST. JOHN

I don’t usually post personal things on tumblr, but it seemed like this year on this day was the right moment.

These past two years have shown the world what an incredible and inspiring explosion of joy and solidarity and support this woman has created through her art. Regardless of any critics, she has given MILLIONS of people her music, her time, and her tremendous outpouring of emotions, love and sorrow and rage and regret and hope and embarrassment and resilience and every other emotion she has ever felt.

People of all ages and backgrounds have connected with that on a deeply personal level, have found friends and support in others, have made memories and built communities in their real lives because of it. Fans, including myself, have met people they may never have met, found love and friendship in a normally bleak and isolating time in our society, have felt pride and confidence and hope and most importantly found a way to feel less alone in this crazy world.

Happy birthday @taylorswift (@taylornation)… the fact that so many people are coming together to celebrate your birthday is just another testament to the wide reaching but intimate and individual impact of the past 35 years 🥂✨
