the thing is that childhood doesn't just end when you turn 18 or when you turn 21. it's going to end dozens of times over. your childhood pet will die. actors you loved in movies you watched as a kid will die. your grandparents will die, and then your parents will die. it's going to end dozens and dozens of times and all you can do is let it. all you can do is stand in the middle of the grocery store and stare at freezers full of microwave pizza because you've suddenly been seized by the memory of what it felt like to have a pizza party on the last day of school before summer break. which is another ending in and of itself

like i think some people’s concept of good poetry/art/opinions in general is ‘would it offend my parents or hometown neighbors’ and if the answer is yes then by merit of their personal problems they’ve struck creative gold and should be on tv

hate seeing posts encouraging living life out of spite tbh like i understand if you’re in a bad place it’s better to cling to something rather than nothing but you do not want to live a fundamentally reactionary life forever you want to find real beauty and joy and that means you’re gonna have to critique both yourself and others in what you do and make

sorry i have more to say. i am a lover and i don’t slam a thing with criticism unless it’s begging for it but i also have to be a hater. and haterism is important sometimes bc some people are just posers with inflated egos… if you can be lit up so easily by the same five buzzwords or symbols every single time you will fall for idols who aren’t putting true passion into their work bc they know it takes so little to earn your love. we all have our fav cool tropes but you gotta understand at some point that it counts as a trope or fad or whatever and enjoy it without acting like it’s particularly creative. but if you want something that will really crack you in half then challenge them to earn your respect
