new resumé for going into the dark times

The US literally invented the playbook by invading Iraq 2 decades ago and keeping it under occupation for nearly a decade after that (and it still is under occupation really, what with US troops still strewn throughout the country)—and we still have people thinking that their every pro-Israeli move isn’t made with the very intention of killing Arabs, as they historically have in the past. Get serious.
What’s even more is I’ve had to watch historians and politicians and US soldiers show their saccharine remorse by stating that the Iraqi war was “a colossal mistake” “a massive military blunder” “we should’ve never gone there.” 1 million Iraqis were killed—and that’s just out of what’s confirmed. The numbers of those forced to flee their homes go as high as 3 million. My mom was one of the Iraqis who had to make the hard decision of leaving her country because she didn’t want us raised in an unsafe environment. And all it is is a “blunder.” Just a military blunder. Iraq has literally been ruined and it’s a blunder.
This will be how Palestine gets covered like a decade from now btw. Millions dead and/or displaced, and it’s watered down to a “military blunder” that “should have never happened.” It’s not like that kind of coverage has stopped the US from continuously leeching off Iraq to this very day anyway. Now there are Arabs like me who never got to live and grow up in their home country, and I’m already getting misgivings from my family about visiting again because of the “unstable state in the Middle East.” We can never enjoy our culture in peace. It literally never ends.
Liberals are already telling everyone all the things they can't have in the future, which I'm sure will generate winning levels of enthusiasm
"We are not getting anything that would slow the rising tide of fascism by improving people's lives" I'm sure people can't wait to run out and vote for that
when we treat kids like unpeople in order to own them or, optimistically, protect them, we put them at greater danger of being abused. stories of grooming so frequently start with the child being made to feel, for once, that someone listened to them. that someone thought they were a real person. all of that is in addition to the fact that being dehumanized is innately damaging even without additional outside manipulation but too many people are married to the idea of children not deserving happiness or self-fulfillment for that to be a convincing argument for most
killing an ant on the sidewalk is honestly unjustifiable and i AM uptight enough to make a big deal out of it. i don’t caaaarrreee you’re killing a living entity that will NEVER negatively affect you besides like. looking kind of gross in your presence. Once. your dedication to your own comfort and your inconsideration towards anything that disturbs it is disgusting. aaaaannnnd post
i am so serious when i say dark and quiet are both human rights.
i don't mean like absolute silence. obviously in an ideal community, there would still be sound and noise from people and music and work etc. but it haunts me that when i camp in the forest i can hear the howl of semi trucks on the interstate miles away. and the people who live beside it never know quiet. it haunts me that many people will live their whole lives never seeing the stars in the sky that were fully visible with NO electric light pollution as recently as my great-grandparents' childhoods.
so much of our lives is bright bright unnecessary noise. neon mcdonalds signs 200 feet in the air so we can see it from the road. led lights over billboards. parking lots lit up like sports stadiums at closed office buildings. advertisements playing at gasoline pumps. streets lined with led porch lights and decorative garden lights that genuinely threaten entire species of wildlife. music blaring outside pharmacies to deter homeless people. everything always shining and wailing for no purpose but profit and cruelty.
obviously not everything can be turned off or made quiet and i wouldn't want it to be anyway and there is a lot of nuance and room for "but what about" here, but MANY things HAVE to change because none of us are supposed to live like this and we shouldn't have to!!!
idk. too many people drive like they don’t realize (or care) that they could die and/or kill someone. as a result of the way they are driving. sorry if i sound lame or ancient i just feel insane witnessing the lack of concern on a regular basis. The vehicle you are in is thousands of pounds going many miles an hour. do you know this
seeing people drive erratically then pulling up next to them and they’re on that goddamn cell phone…. i’m going to reach over and snatch that thing. and eat it
YOU are a neurotypical cisgender woman. going about with your latte and such
[obediently] I am a neurotypical cisgender woman. Going about with my latte and such
what are your thoughts on your predecessor, Gary Larson
big fan, obviously
i hope whoever actually shot that CEO is having a good day.
it's crazy how normalized misogyny is like you find out a man doesn't believe women are people capable of equitable rational thought and logic reasoning as men and you're considered weird if you express discomfort associating with him
Everything written on “Female autism” is amazing like we just put 293638363836 trillion dollars into our study that concluded women are more often forced to abide by social rules and act palatable than men. Shocking stuff
