Since years back Iโ€™ve always been a bit of a gorrister x ted fan ive always had the silly headcanon that theyโ€™ve def been together at least a few times in the past 109 years (I feel like itโ€™s just inevitable tbh. like I feel like itโ€™s canon) & ted likes gorristerโ€™s strong hands and southern drawl & finds comfort in his presence. ted is an unstable cagey little weird fag but gorrister finds him cuteโ€ฆ has also definitely called ted โ€œcityboyโ€ endearingly. Uuuurghhh they make me siiiickkkkkkkk..

Hello hi.....ur art is so cool..... Here's an Ellen....this is going to all Ellen and/or ihnmaims moots...

Ships in Candle Cove Headcannons

Ships as in sea faring vessels. Shared these in other places but never publicly, I think.

  • Technically speaking any ship in Candle Cove has the possibility of coming to life. The exact conditions for it are up for debate but most commonly it's ships of successful pirate crews, some fishing and whaling ships and independent sailors have experienced the phenomenon as well. No ships sailing with the navy have ever come to life.
  • It's an occurrence that definitely isn't commonplace but is known about well enough so that it isn't entirely other worldly.
  • No one really knows exactly how it happens other than it's a magical occurrence. Some say ships come to life after passing through waters where the veil between candle cove and the abyssal kingdom is thin, others say it's a crew's high spirits and comradery that possesses the ship and makes it conscious. To those in navy and NPHC circles, this takes on a new meaning and it's believed a ship coming to life is the result of wickedness and evil doing.
  • To many, especially pirates, a ship coming to life is a good omen and means luck for the crew. In a sense it sort of signifies to others that you're a legit force.
  • For some though, it's a huge inconvenience as ships that are alive can exert free will and possibly choose to work against the crew. Both because of this and the fact living ships typically don't let anyone other than their captain sail them, they're very unpopular to sell, buy, or steal (which, yeah, good luck stealing one).
  • However, living ships can also be a huge advantage if they're agreeable with the crew. They're faster and useful in battle (big teeth go chomp chomp).
  • There are telling signs before your ship comes to life including hearing a heartbeat in the hull, a strange dark liquid seeping from any damages, an oily smell, the captain suddenly becoming unwell with a common illness (which ends once the ship is alive), and of course a face slowly forming at the ships front.
  • A ships personality is influenced by how the captains own and how the crew operates.
  • A living ship can and will become more and more inanimate again if it's been left uncared for too long, severely damaged in a battle or crash, if enough of a crew is lost or their spirits run too low. This doesn't mean they're dead though. A living ship will still possess some consciousness until, say, all of its wooden boards are undone and used to make something else. Up till that point, no matter their state, they are still alive and aware and have only lost the ability to show it.
  • An example of a ship that illustrates the previous point would be the Rubberfishes ship Crackerjack, who after a woodworm infestation is much less fluid and lively than other ships and can only groan and moan.
  • Laughingstock is actually a very odd case living ship wise. When it was just Percy and Poppy the two found her washed up and broken in a sea cave, and pressed for a ship fixed her to sail, after which she started talking again. Because of this, unlike other ships, her personality doesn't line up with Poppy's and the two actually butt heads quite a bit.
  • Not all living ships speak and act as people do. The Jolly Hounds (who I really wanna rename "Jolly Dragons" for thematic purposes) ship, for example, came to life in the form of the ship head carved into a dragon acting animalistic and dog like (Milo loves him dearly).
  • Living ships don't eat necessarily but they can and do swallow a bunch of sea water while sailing (another possible inconvenience), and getting caught in their wooden jaws can pose a real threat.
  • The Tarantula crews ship used to speak, but immediately stopped after Red Mary joined the crew.

Hello I'm alive. Heartfelt concepts. Trying to figure out whether I like different pinks or more realistic color on him, would love feedback.
