wanting was enough. for me, it was enough
so much for summer love, and saying "us"
'cause you weren't mine to lose

And well i’m an eddiegirl so like let me say. I think it’s universally acknowledged that what buck is looking for, what buck wants and crucially NEEDS, is someone who will listen to him, and see him, and pay attention to him, and care about his thoughts and what he has to say and him, as a person. Someone who will LET him be the best he can be, this guy who loves so hard and wants to wade into the mess. It’s not about whether it’s accepted that he believes in curses or adopts a dog in the middle of a tantrum. Eddie is here looking to Buck at every turn in this situation that is SO fragile to him, where he feels like THE most important thing in his life is at stake. Chris is his heart and soul. Eddie NEEDS him. And when he’s not feeling surefooted he draws from that endless well of love and devotion and FAITH Buck has in him. He TRUSTS buck. He LISTENS. Deeply. Seriously. He takes it to heart. Because he sees Buck as his partner. THIS IS WHAT BUCK WANTS. WHAT BUCK HAS ALWAYS WANTED. Someone who treasures his love and care so much, someone who lets him know them this deeply, someone who doesn’t see him as a disappointment but as a compass and a light. That’s what he IS to eddie!!!!!!!! THAT’S HOW MUCH EDDIE LOVES HIM. That’s the kind of love Buck has been desperate for and the kind of love that makes him act like a deranged fucking freak!!!!!!
I think there's something very intentional about how integral Buck has been in reuniting Eddie and Chris. I generally agree with people who've said that fanon exaggerates how much of a coparent Buck has really been up until now, but I think in these last few episodes, the show is very purposefully giving Buck a big part in Eddie's Texas arc and in Eddie bringing Chris home, in part because they are trying to show us that Buck is ready for this role and he is part of this family. Eddie only is able to go to Texas because Buck puts aside his own feelings of abandonment to move into his house, for Eddie yes, but as Buck reminds him, for Christopher too. And every single time Eddie hits a bump in the road with Chris in Texas, he calls Buck, and Buck tells him exactly what he needs to hear in that moment in order to move forward and do the right thing. Ultimately it's Eddie whose dad instincts tell him Chris needs to come home, and it's Eddie's courage and confidence that get the job done, but Buck played the perfect supporting role every step of the way, and maybe Eddie could have done it without him, but it would have been a hell of a lot harder and would have taken much more time. The show did this on purpose. They put Buck into this arc on purpose. They could just as easily have had Eddie go to Bobby for advice (he's done it tons of times before) or Hen or Chim, characters who are actually parents, but no. He goes to Buck, and Buck is able to be his rock in this way, and all of this is for a reason and that reason is BUDDIE CANON
How fast the night changes S02E02 vrs S08E12
the facetime call at the firehouse really confirmed to me that buck walks around on the phone with eddie nonstop and everyone at the 118 knows all of their business
recipe aside why does Buck's cookbook say. (Waiting is the hardest part!) and it's right above Eddie propped up against it talking to him on facetime. haha. that's probably nothing.
Together.

Here, beneath my lungs, I feel your thumbs press into my skin again
You went out there to be Christopher's dad. You can't come back.
