MAOMAO AND JINSHI STANS WE WON. Lives were fucking changed today omg, what an ending. This is already shaping up to be one of my fave Kusuriya arcs.

Classic trap set up with Jinshi being summoned to the northern lands for a hunting game. Kinda giving game of thrones and what better way to take out a political rival than under the guise of a “hunting accident” question is, will it be as obvious as it being Lord Shishou or is someone else talking advantage of the opportunity 🤔 either way, Jinshi clearly knew something was probably gonna happen which is why he invited Maomao aka the person he can rely on the most to save his life lol

Ended up being the other way around at least at the start of this arc with Jinshi having to do CPR on Maomao and save her from the assassins. The tension in that cave could be cut with a knife man I’m telling you, they’re so cute. I knew there was no way Jinshi was gonna let that opportunity pass without trying SOMETHING. That ending scene is so spicy omg. Is it gonna be a bait and switch ala Jinshi hearing something and just wanting to keep Maomao down OR is he actually finally gonna make his move following the advice of his mom last episode 🤔 either way, need next week ep BADLY.

I didn’t realize how small and delicate Maomao was until this episode either. She really is so precious and it’s such a cute contrast with Jinshi’s height and build 😍

👆If anyone ever doubts Jinshi, don’t. This is the face of a man who knows what he wants, ok. There is no hesitation in that gaze, no lack of intention there, it’s so clear. Even MaoMao can’t deny it. You can see it in the surprise and clarity on her face, she knows, at this point denying the attraction anymore is not an option. When he pulled her back in it’s a statement, “I want you, stay”. This is where the line finally gets crossed, from implied interest to asserted interest. To no longer being able to be ignored. However there is a softness that contrasts the assertion, the delicate way he holds her while at the same time intensely keeping her gaze without saying a word, it’s passionate in its honesty. The vulnerability in the actions in the hope of even a slight reciprocation, this is why I adore Jinshi and MaoMao 💜💚

my favourite part of the apothecary diaries is jinshi freaking out over maomao's impulsive freaky tendencies (but he's lowkey into that)

He buys her out of her contract and takes her back explaining about what happened and suddenly Fengxian is no longer freaking out she's strategizing.

She goes full master strategist mode and basically takes over La clan (she makes it look like her Lakan are married she knows he'll agree and neither of them will want a big wedding so it's all good)

Lakan returns back only to be welcomed as head of the family with Fengxian there handing him a baby, HIS DAUGHTER like 'Welcome back, do you want to play go?'

He nods eventually it's a slow game though as he keeps just staring at Maomao in awe and gaping like a fish he has completely blue screened and is so confused. Fengxian doesn't mind she's waited 3 years for this game and they have many more years of games ahead of them he can take his time.

Bonus Lakan finds out about all her plotting and planning and is just more smitten
