in my dumb, cringe and inactive era Byler | ST theories & reblogs | Stonathan Matthew Modine Stan Pro - Noah Finn Will Mike

bro i cant tell if this shot was supposed to be comedically about mike looking happy with some guy and els watching like -_- but its taking me out anyway

in tfs when patty and henry have their first kiss, a lightbulb explodes (and i'm pretty sure in the broadway version i saw more than one explode actually)

let's look at mike and el's first kiss now.

first of all, there's a light fixture in frame this whole conversation leading up to the kiss

gee, looks like the lightbulb behind el is still very much intact guys!

Hey so like… am I only the one who thought it reminded them exactly of this scene orrr

“Idk… when I kissed you… it felt like I was kissing my brother”—Loraine

“Will you be like my brother”— El

I was supposed to finish/post this drawing on Will's birthday (March 22nd) but I ended up spending more time with it:)

A Will from each season! hope you like them<3

Individual pieces (I'll probably post the S2 and S4 ones again with a different background another time, but for this post I wanted them to look like the other ones)

Thinking about how Byler is so meta. Because when the Duffers criticize the people of Hawkins for “not wanting to see what lies underneath the curtain,” that same rhetoric can be directed at the audience members who would refuse to acknowledge the very real romantic connection the boys have in favor of the most generic, most predictable romantic dynamic of all time, boy meets girl. They prefer to stay blind to what’s really going on because it’s more comfortable and palatable for them, the majority. Wow, I love Stranger Things for basically calling homophobes ignorant and unimaginative. Bc they are lmao.

When you're different, sometimes you feel like a mistake, but you make [me] feel like [I'm] not a mistake at all.

How did I miss it?

This was Mike after 8 months alone with his queerness

This is Mike after one week of being reminded what it actually means.

Of course. Without Will Byers, all you can think about is how you love a boy and you shouldn't. But with Will Byers, all you can think about is how you love a boy.

Mike first started really coming to terms with his queerness completely isolated from the beauty of queerness. He was alone in a homophobic smalltown, knowing in memory and fantasy that he was queer but the actual experience completely inaccessible to him.

Of COURSE he acted the way he did that first day. He first came to terms with being a "mistake" with no one to make him feel like "not a mistake at all" for over 2,000 miles.

Oh, the representation of different queer experiences. Will Byers was screamed at that he was queer from before he even knew but had the people around him.

Mike Wheeler was able to hide, but realized completely alone...

THAT'S why he was so scared. He had no reason to truly know that queerness didn't just feel like self-hatred. Beyond just the safety fears, God, I'd be scared to hate myself forever too. He was isolated for long enough, early enough in his realization not to remember queerness as anything but something you sit alone in the dark with.

THIS is him learning. We watched Mike learn that queerness can be GOOD. And we watched him reclaim it.

Beyond all the tragedy of volume 2 and all the things he can't have,

he came out of it knowing that queerness is GOOD.

And do you miss the rogue who coaxed you into paradise

And left you there...

concept art 4 a horror comic about the dinosaurs that survived the initial meteor impact and are now living in a sort of last of us/annihilation-esque world

let's talk about nancy's side of the love triangle in s4

unsurprisingly, murray's analysis still applies (as it does for several other relationships in the show)

or in this case, nancy's not accepting that her and jonathan are going through a rough patch. long distance is hard on them, and she's particularly worried that jonathan might've met someone new (which couldn't be farther from the truth.

so what does nance do?

a litte glance or two, a little harmless flirting... but then steve makes it real.

and suddenly this isn't the "retreat" she'd thought it'd be. it's not "safe" or easy anymore.
