Welcome to the graveyard, brave soul.

My name is CalciumCryptid, the guardian of this crypt, an aspiring writer, learning artist, and studying electrician. I typically post about whatever I feel like, which at this point in time is Thai BL.

Feel free to wander around, but please leave the irises alone.

  • My mutual assigned nickname is Calci, but I also respond favorably to Mx. Cryptid. Though, please do not call me Cal as I know someone with that name so it is weird being called it.
  • I will not hesitate to use the block button, but as long as you aren't a bigot, abuse apologist, or proshipper we should get along fine.

okay but there is something disquieting about this urge to cast fan writers as altruists. they give us all this for free!! well, no.

they’re sharing

it’s a key difference in perception. fic isn’t given. it’s shared. it’s part of a fandom community— in which readers are also an integral part.

it’s probably inevitable mission creep from the increasingly transactional nature of the internet and fandom-as-consumerism, which was always gonna happen after corps worked out how much bank there is to make from those weirdo fan people

but like. fandom is sharing. i think we’ve lost that somewhere.

do you think q ever saw toey's handwriting - on a draft, or a note to himself - and paused because the handwriting was... strangely familiar? do you think q ever talked to toey and had to take a moment because the way his mentee spoke - the way he used adjectives, the way he put excited pauses between everything - felt oddly like something he'd encountered before? do you think q ever saw toey do something - order a certain food, complain about a certain subject - and find that his words mirrored those of someone q had only ever met through scraps of paper?

do you think maybe, just maybe, a tiny part of q had figured out the connection between his two loves before he really realized it? or do you think q had no idea, because he fell with his whole heart for toey two separate times and never realized?

i go to the shop and I ask if they have any raspberries. they say no, they used to sell raspberries, but they haven't had any in stock in the last 15 years. I ask if there's somewhere else I can go to buy raspberries. They say no, with confidence and pride, they're the only shop around who has ever sold or will ever sell raspberries. Other shops might sell other fruit, sure, but they have a monopoly on all raspberries forever. I ask if they're possibly planning on them selling them again in future? they say they can't tell me that.

on the way home, I encounter someone eating raspberries. I ask and they tell me that they grow their own, they got some seeds from the shop back in The Raspberry Days and kept them. They take me to a field of many beautiful raspberry plants and invite me to pick my own, they're free for all the town to pick whenever they'd like.

someone comes up behind us. It's the shop manager, President of Nintendo Shuntaro Furukawa. he hatefully throws a bob-omb that blows up and kills both of us instantly for stealing 200 trillion dollars worth of potential Raspberry Shop That Doesn't Do Raspberries Anymore profits that they weren't making and then he turns around to the camera with a big thumbs up and says don't do piracy or something ok please

I think it needs to become common knowledge that "inability to read social cues" can show up as overcompensating.

You don't know how much misbehaviour is allowed, so you become the perfect child who never tests rules.

You don't know if someone is irritated with you, so you'll be extra generous and self-effacing.

You don't know how much is expected of you at work so you'll kill yourself in a minimum-wage job and not notice that nobody else is working like this.

"Hardworking and quiet" should be as much of an autism red flag as "ignores rules and doesn't know when to stop talking". Or why don't we just start using words to communicate so i can stop tracking everybody's eyebrow twitches, that would be great.

Amazing pottery skills

This is the most technically proficient pottery throwing I've ever seen. The economy of motion? Literally everything in one pull, one squeeze. Absolutely no even minor touch ups required. This shit is like watching a skilled magician even as someone who knows how to throw on the wheel. I am watching this the way that someone who is great at a few card tricks watches Penn and Teller.

More FaifaWine thoughts

  • As Wine’s first year comes to an end he starts to wonder if he’ll be moving in with Faifa - he wants to live with Faifa. Fai hasn’t mentioned it. So, one night when they’re cuddling and Fai says something like “I wish we could do this every night.” Wine jumps at the chance and asks if they should live together.
  • Faifa is super nervous about meeting Wine’s family. He brings gifts and food, he tries to reign in his more extroverted traits, he’s fidgety — Wine finds the whole thing endearing to hell — Wine’s mom adopts Fai instantaneously. That night, after he think Wine’s asleep, Faifa thanks him. He rambles on about “whole” families and feeling wanted — stuff he’d say when Wine was awake too, but with more constructed thoughts. Wine, of course, responds.
  • People still expect Faifa to help them, and he does though with far more constraint. However, some people don’t like that. On one occasion, some pushy classmates get heated calling him “selfish” and “fake” etc. Faifa takes it with a smile and offers apologies. But Wine is less than pleased
  • Wine does not want to be a mentor. Hard stop, worst care scenario, does not want. So, he and Fai are a package deal when the new 10 Liner enters the group. And every moment makes Wine fall deeper

not that i am against the concept of international trade nor do i think tariffs are based or whatever but what is interesting is seeing how much of the american reaction comes down to “but *i* dont want to work in a factory for pennies and *i* dont want my currency to be worthless and to have to pay one billion dollars for iphone” without even acknowledging your comfort depends on a global population who is forced to live under those exact conditions. right. like it or not, for the world to exist as it does, someone’s got to do it. someone’s got to mine the precious metals, someone’s got to forge the machine parts. someone’s got to ruin their body for slave wages, somewhere. the fact that you and i don’t is a result of winning a total genetic lottery and it is the exception not the norm and do what you want with that information but at least dont be callous

generative AI literally makes me feel like a boomer. people start talking about how it can be good to help you brainstorm ideas and i’m like oh you’re letting a computer do the hard work and thinking for you???

There are many difficult things that were replaced with technology, and it wasn't a bad thing. Washing machine replaces washing clothes by hand. Nothing wrong with that. Spinning wheel replaces drop spindle. Nothing wrong with that.

Generative AI replaces thinking. The ability to think for yourself will always be important. People that want to control and oppress you want to limit your ability to think for yourself as much as possible, but continuing to practice it allows you to resist them.

I still think it’s objectively fucked how the world is built for morning people and if you wake up later than everyone else you’re seen as a malicious aberration of some sort. I am that but it’s not because I wake up at 11 fuck yourself

It's funny to me how scared tumblr users are of 4chan when there is just as much horrible hateful content on here and we have known for years that the moderators of this website are racist and transmisogynist as fuck. Click on a random terf profile and you'll find full on nazis in like 5 minutes. 4chan is dogshit too but it's I don't think it's much better than any other social media website except there's 5% more slurs there

Twitter is owned by an actual nazi who did a nazi salute on TV. Racist shit is constantly pushed on Facebook and people constantly talk about being shown people being murdered and maimed. Scroll on YouTube shorts for 5 minutes and you'll be shown Andrew tate and other Redpill stuff. Reddit had shit like r/incels and I'm sure you could find similar stuff to that very easily nowadays. I've never interacted with any terf stuff here but still I get posts recommended to me that basically boil down to "we should kill trannies" and every other week a random trans woman is censored for daring to post a pic of themselves or deleted for no real reason

Reblog if you remember this motherfucker:

ooh i have a nice fun fact!

Static was WILDLY popular in Brazil (a country where the population is over 50% black) and we had re-runs for YEARS on open television. Everyone who was a kid in the 2000s knew and loved him. As a result, every single Brazilian Con has a LOT of static cosplayers!

So, a couple of years ago, Comic Con Experience (the biggest con in Brazil, which is actually also the biggest con in the world!) invited Static’s creator Denys Cowan as one of the guests of honor.

Now. Thousands of people attend his panel. And cosplayers went NUTS because they could show their Static cosplay to the creator himself! What none of us expected was Debts Cowan’s reaction:

He cried on stage.

He had never seen Static cosplayers - especially not so many of them! And he had no idea the show was popular here! No one ever told him his character was so beloved! Years and years of reruns and he had no idea! He obviously created the character with his experiences and his community (Black North Americans) in mind. Still, he accidentally touched a whole other community of black people who could see themselves on the screen as a superhero!

Anyway he is a lovely person and one of the best, most memorable guests we had. And I think this is a nice reminder that your art might touch people you can’t even imagine would when creating it.
