keeping thinking thoughts about Alecto
everyone calling her a corpse and a dead meat all the time but is she actually?
she wasn't dead before the tomb, I assume, since she needed to eat and sleep, did John do something with her body and now she's dead like Kiriona or everyone just assumed she's dead cause of the tomb ambience
Harrow when the corpse of the locked tomb not really a corpse and also laughs at ass jokes:
Possibly a hot take but, though I've said parts of this here and there in response to other stuff, I realized I should probably throw it out in its own post:
I think the Lyctors in HtN were wrong about John's eyes. Or rather, specifically, I think they're wrong that his oil spill eclipse eyes were originally Alecto's. I do not think Alecto has or ever had his eye color.
John's eyes were brown, originally. The gold was always a gift from Alecto, from earth, from Eden. (Slight edit: The precise details, the fine patterns, may have swapped. This is just about the color.)
Plus, how long could Alecto have had different eyes? He made her body to split the god soul into. Creating her physical body was part of the lyctoral process for him. While it's "possible" they were black for a few seconds/minutes as he was making her form and then faded into gold, I think it's more likely that gold eyes = god-soul outright, for Alecto and for John and for Gideon.
As for the eyes John has now?
Well, first, though I've yet to see it reflected in fanart, remember his eyes aren't just black with the ring.
They're RAINBOW-black, iridescent, like an oil spill. They're MANY colors intermingled.
And, well...

If Ianthe's eyes for a while were a chaotic mashing of her original color and Naberius's two, what would billions of eyes overlapped possibly look like?
Bonus points if the "eclipse" effect ring is literally Alecto's golden light peeking throw from beneath it all despite that.

I just know there were several centuries where John played the song "Take Me to the River" by the Talking Heads every time they entered the River. He didn't stop until Mercymorn swore a literal blood oath that she would hunt down and eradicate every single copy of the song in the entire universe.
They’re so Orpheus and Eurydice. But like. If Eurydice went willingly down so Orpheus could live, and Orpheus gouged out his eyes so he wouldn’t fail.
Partially inspired by this post and, you know, everything i love being orpheus and eurydice in some way
I understand why this is the case, to be clear, because what we see of his character is extremely limited, but I find that so much fanon characterization of Colum Asht relies on the presumption that he's a normal person. Specifically, that he's a normal person who could be rehabilitated by people treating him normally.
In context, this is generally true, because he exists primarily in relation to an obsessive religious zealot whose external socialization consists primarily of telling people about themselves with zero regard for whether that's a normal or decent thing to do in context. Because we see Colum, with very few exceptions, constantly attached to Silas throughout GTN, he looks significantly more like a regular person who's sort of being forced to drag around a purse dog who bites. I believe no one has ever deserved to step outside for a cigarette and stare at nothing more than Colum; again, I understand where the characterization comes from. I do however think it's wrong. This post is very long. Sorry or whatever.
camilla hect is actually grown-up dora the explorer but you're not ready to heear that
Oh, I'm ready, but I've already accepted another truth, too. Are you ready for that one?
