The raw confusion that @beguilingcorpse and I are experiencing over this
Hi I’m just so curious why you are impersonating my friend nat’s blog. It’s so confusing. You have the same banner and title but not the bio. I’m befuddled and a little amused. This is not an attempt to get you to stop because I do find this pretty funny. But please I have to know the motivation.

The new Fantasy High comic is a lot better than I thought it'd be to start with. They streamline a lot, sure, and while I'm not necessarily happy we didn't get the same quirky intros to everyone it's still really good and faithful.
I’m theorizing that they’ll go back and show a bit more of the other characters backstories and introduce them better as it goes on. It didn’t make a lot to sense for a 3 episode intro to only show characters and not get new people hooked on a little bit of plot. But we will just have to see
I’m seeing a lot of hate for the Webtoon and I feel like it’s a good time to remind people that not everything translates well form one form of media to another. Some things that were incredible about fantasy high on d20 were the use of DnD mechanics. Unfortunately that super copywriterd and when translating the story to a comic series, it’s easier to introduce elements and characters slowly. Some things will have to be reinterpreted. Like Adaine needs to be introduced as a wizard but spell slots aren’t really easily translatable outside of a DnD table. So instead showing her anxiety attack was a good way to not have her doing magic in the fight. There’s also a lot of things that probably needed to be changed to get the coming to a YA rating (including Adaine bashing Doreen to death with a ladle). And introducing the main cast so fast in a comic with all thier backstories at once isn’t as well paced as it is in a DnD show. I saw some complaints in the tags about how they cut out the girls backstories. I’m sure they will be explored there’s just only 3 chapters out right now. I do wish they hadn’t twinkified Riz so much but the silly panels of him are kinda making uo for it
genuinely wheezing laughing at this description of dicken's awful pet with lead poisoning
important thing i forgot to mention: i looked this up bc adam read a thing about how dicken's pet was an inspiration for poe's "the raven" and we were like "well thats not true" but now that ive looked it up, i believe it
Yep! Dickens cited Grip as inspiration for the talking raven in his novel Barnaby Rudge, and Poe was one of its earliest critics (literary critic here being a career title, poe quite liked the work), and he spent time in his review discussing how raven could have been utilized to a stronger effect. Some time later, he used that concept in The Raven.
Dickens was distraught at Grip's passing and had him preserved. He currently resides in the US, in the Free Library of Philadelphia's rare books archive in Pennsylvania and can be visited with appointment.
