He holds a megaphone, paints his face, knows every player's name, and occasionally wears the mascot uniform and cheers his heart out because that's his baby brother on the field! That guy? The tall dude with the floppy hair? That's his baby brother right there, and you're gonna watch him win goddamn it

He gets the crowd riled up. He throws candy at them. He gets them to cheer, scream, and boost morale for the team

And one day, resident weirdo Castiel gets signed up for the cheer team by his brother Gabriel to cheer on his other brother Michael

And I just need him to be so uncomfortably intimidated by how intense Dean is about this job. Cas doesn't get it. He doesn't understand the point of it and tells Dean that Dean's constant yelling is getting on his nerves

And that pisses Dean off so then he makes it his personal mission to prove that what he does makes a difference...

by cheering Castiel on in everything he does in the most aggressive way possible

Enemies to lovers, but they both genuinely hate each other in the most low-stakes situation possible

This has to be the most humiliating thing Gabriel has ever roped him into doing. And that's saying something. The list is long.

Castiel tugs at the hem of his black shorts self consciously, but unless he wants them to come off, that's as low as they'll go. He sighs and checks himself again in the mirror. He looks as ridiculous as the last time he looked. Along with the tiny shorts is a light blue shirt emblazoned with the word 'ANGELS' in shiny gold. He can't believe he's going to wear this in front of the school. Maybe he could just stay in the locker room for the game and nobody will notice... it's not like anyone will miss him. He picks at the edge of the peeling 'A'.

"There you are, baby brother!" Gabriel's unmistakable voice sings from the doorway. "Everyone's been saying 'where oh where is Castiel? He is truly the truest of angels for saving poor injured Gabriel's chances at his extra credit.'"

"Nobody is saying that," Castiel huffs, as Gabriel's uninjured arm presses down around his shoulders. It's not even like he can pull away - he's very aware of the other arm strapped tight in its sling and he doesn't want to hurt his brother. Yet. He might feel different after the game.

Gabriel steers Castiel out of the locker room in the direction of the pitch and he lets himself be taken there, despite his growing feelings of dread foreboding. He's never even been to a football game, and now here he is cheering for one...

Gabriel leaves him with a hearty clap on his back and Castiel approaches the other cheerleaders with his head down, firmly staring at his shoes as he walks. He had to borrow a pair of Gabriel's sneakers for this, and they're incredibly scuffed...

"Go Angels! Go Sammy!" a muffled deep voice yells, snapping up Castiel's attention.

Holy- one of the cheerleaders is in a big plush suit! The head is a giant eyeball made of felt, the body is a mix of light blue and gold felt, and there are six pairs of white wings bouncing on his back every time he moves.
