it's dangerous to go alone!

🌻Cas's art blog | He/him (ENG) il/le (FRÇ) I interact from here. My art is ok to use for profile pictures & the like unless specified otherwise!🌻

Gift for @sunscribbles as part of the aa spring swap! prompt was a character study/slice of life content ft lanamia in law school…There was supposed to be a little comic to go along with this to better get across the character study element, but I ran out of time TT_TT I hope this suffices though! Whenever I think of them in law school it conjures the image of Mia bugging Lana while she tries to study…I just know deep in my soul that being a pest is embedded in the Fey genes

Hi! Sorry if this isn’t the right place to ask but I didn’t know if you’d see it on the Nick and Maya zine blog. Did you ever send out results for pinch hitter applications? I was hoping they’d come out as things were sorted out but now I’m not sure if I missed a rejection. I’d still love to pinch hit so I don’t want to miss out!

No, the TBC zine blog is definitely the best place to ask! Things sent to my personal blogs tend to get buried very quickly I’m afraid. The tldr though is no, results still haven’t been sent out. The shadowbanning and termination really sent things astray, and seeing as the mod team is kind of short for hands at the moment (and that the schedule which was built to work around our personal schedules was disrupted) it’s been a struggle to find the time to properly reorganize things. Rest assured though that once a few things are sorted out behind the scenes we intent to post a proper, thorough announcement on what things will look like going forward. Pinch hitter results will be hopefully sent out soon but this isn’t really the place for me to provide all the details lol. What I can tell you for certain is that the project schedule *will* be adjusted to account for pinch hitters/newer applicants. Once again, feel free to direct any further questions to @/nickandmayazine and we’ll get back to you a lot quicker!

Hi, just wondering where the Through Burning Coals blog went. @nickandmayazine seems to be gone and the project doesn't have any other socials as far as I know, just a carrd with no updated info. sorry if someone has addressed this already but I haven't seen anything

Hello anon! Sorry it took a few days for me to get back to you, I haven't touched this blog in a few days for reasons that I will make clear in a moment.

The TLDR is: Tumblr was terminating my blogs one by one for no apparent reason, and since I'm the sole manager of our social media presence, the projects's blog is under my email. Every time i posted on or otherwise used one of my blogs it was terminated (including @/nickandmayazine) so I've been staying logged out of this blog for fear of having my entire account terminated (hence the late response). Tumblr just got back to me today saying that nickandmayazine was flagged by their anti-spam controls. I don't know why that is, but the important thing is that it's up and running again. Naturally, there will a be more detailed announcement/explanation posted on that blog in due time.

Apologies for the inconvenience everyone! I promise we're all just as stressed and frustrated with all this as you are.

This was supposed to be finished for the DL-6 anniversary but I fear it will be sitting half finished in my gallery for a while longer. in the meantime here’s a wip for you all

5. What’s your favorite thing to draw?

Specifically I reeeally like drawing my favorite fictional guys (gender neutral) huddled up on the couch, which is funny because 90% of the time I am drawing them in indescribably horrible situations.

I also just like capturing the little moments in general, both in my fanart (which is mostly what you all see here) and in my original work. You’re waiting at the bus stop and you’re the only solo traveller in a crowd of strangers. You wake up before everyone else and the house is quiet and everything in here is asleep but outside the world is waking up around you. Someone who’s known you a long time passes you something you’re about to reach for before you even ask. Just these weirdly specific feelings and interactions that most people know but don’t really think twice about. and then to contrast that mundanity with bright colours and bold lines and eye catching textures. My favorite work I’ve ever made is stuff that feels very grounded, but also very distinctly stylized, maybe even abstract. That kind of contrast is something I think is difficult to achieve, but it’s something I’m always chasing in my work, and it’s very rewarding when you get it right.

Did we really need a balls 2, Hollywood? I swear everything is a sequel or a spinoff these days 🙄
