“You’re absolutely no help.”
“Math isn’t what it used to be, okay?”
“That’s because you’re over a hundred years old and have, like, a fourth grade education.”
Bucky gasps like that’s the most offensive thing he’s ever heard. “Hey, I was a highly trained assassin for seventy years!”
“And that automatically makes you a pro at the quadratic formula?”
“Has anyone ever told you that you should respect your elders?”
You stick your tongue out at Bucky and he does it right back.
How did you end up here? Well, you were only ten years old when you started running. For as long as you could remember, Hydra was all you had ever known. After Captain America took down SHIELD while simultaneously exposing Hydra, you had been able to escape from their grasp. They had made you do things, cruel things, as they trained you to be a weapon. Even if the experience was torturous and you were relieved to have escaped, being on the run at that age was a struggle, for Hydra was all you had ever known. And a lonely child roaming the city by themselves was kind of hard to miss. It took about two months before you were admitted into the foster care system.
