Places that unlocked Childhood Wonder:

  • Pet stores, especially for the first timeΒ 
  • Staying up past bed time
  • MeadowsΒ 
  • Small clusters of trees, bushes, and gardens (bonus points for being in the middle of summer)Β 
  • Going to a fair or carnival for the first timeΒ 
  • Seeing your new classroom on the first day of school
  • Toy stores, big or small
  • Any kind of field trip for school, especially to museumsΒ 
  • Fountains. Extra special if they were in a mall.Β 
  • Lakes that you weren’t allowed to swim in but still touched the water
  • Seeing mountains or the ocean for the first time from the backseat of the carΒ 
  • Waiting for it to get dark on the 4th of JulyΒ 
  • Attics in generalΒ 
  • Riding in the back of a pickup truck or SUV
  • Going on a walk or to a park and being allowed to pet a stranger’s dog
  • Trampolines with nets around themΒ 
  • Hiding in the little clubhouse at the top of a jungle gym or playgroundΒ 
  • Sitting by a door or window looking out at snow (or rain!)Β

Last year I lost my uncle and his entire family in a missile attack on his displacement site in Rafah, and Al Jazeera YouTube reported.

Today, I am in pain as I miss the dearest to my heart, my father, who suffered from a stroke that caused him quadriplegia. He could not cope with the catastrophic life as we lived in a tent that was like a grave. His weak body was exposed to malnutrition as a result of not providing the necessary food for his condition, and the severe cold caused him to have a heart attack that led to his immediate death.

I wake up terrified every night. I check on my family, whom I fear will die of cold πŸ₯ΆπŸ˜°

And it was not limited to this, but our tent that shelters my family, children, and my brother Samer, who suffers from a chronic illness, was flooded and swept away under the dirt as a result of the heavy rains. Our tent has become worn out and does not protect us from the winds and rain β›ˆοΈβ›Ί

Never got to see the Furnal Equinox babyfur panel this year because I was too busy running around with friends, but I did get to see a luggage cart with a package of diapers on it in the hotel lobby on the Friday night
