I can't remember which platform I found this photo of Niki and Nelson, probably from the 2015 Austrian gp.

I always assumed it was taken by a fan's cell phone or something at the event due to its low quality.

and it turns out that it was from Piquet's garage. Piquet put this photo on the wall with his collection and trophies.

（I wish there were a higher quality version of this photo.）

btw there was probably another picture of him and Niki in his house many years ago?

  • in June 1982, Didier attended an event in Monza. there, he laid a rose in memory of Gilles, his late friend
  • two months later, Didier suffered severe leg injuries in an accident, which ended his chance of being world champion. by his hospital bed stood a statue sent by Enzo Ferrari, its base engraved with the true champion of 1982
  • at that moment, he thought of Gilles and the old times, when they were together
  • Didier never made it back to F1
  • five years later, he died in a powerboat accident

some details in the edit

  • the image of 输(defeat) shows Didier winning, while the image of 赢(victory) shows Gilles losing
  • in the end, the champagne celebration is with the sound of seawater, drowning

I love how Niki and Nelson really had one of the best friendships in F1, the two simply found themselves similar in many ways and Niki always made a point of showing how much he liked Nelson.

and the fact that, besides being one of those who was most deeply saddened during Niki's wake, Nelson still cries when he talks about him and always remembers how much Niki helped him.
