doing my utmost to ensure that i am never marketed or advertised to unless i am explicitly looking to purchase something (like, searching for product recommendations when i need to buy a new household appliance or whatever) has made me insane, i think.

every time i am exposed for even a moment to what the average person experiences online in terms of ads, or even just going outside to a place with lots of billboards and posters and shit, becomes completely soul-sundering, day-ruining, rage-inducing. i actually cannot cope with the idea that this is just how the average person lives.
