Does anyone else miss that era in animation where they were randomly pick an animal or environment or just really anything to make the most fever dream fuel on earth? But said movies would have such passionate and beautiful motives or lessons? Or just gave the characters a great plot and personalities???
In my opinion, these would be (off the top of my head):
1: Over the Hedge: Where a once selfish raccoon learns that having friends and family is better then being alone
2: Finding Nemo (1&2): A movie for families of all kind, which actually holds so much representation for those of the disabled community and where the creatures of said movie make a beautiful connection and bond
3: Wall-E: Literally one of the greatest movies in my opinion of robots showing humans again why life on earth needs to be preserved.
4: Shrek: The great franchise where our beloved character learns something new about family and being selfless and for being himself, while having a fun twist on classical fairytale.
5: The Reef: A movie where a little fish takes out the terror of a shark bullying his new home and he gives others the courage to fight back.
6: Sammy The Turtles Adventure (both 1&2): Another sea movie where a turtle travels the world and learns how greatly we humans impact their world and homes.
7: Space Chimps: It was one of those movies I was obsessed with as a child. A movie where the grandson of a famous chiml astronauts learns to be more with a hotshot and live up to his grandfather's legacy.
8: Cars: The whole franchise is just beauty and showing there's more to life then just winning.
9: Ferngully: Another forest movie with beautiful animation where a fairy, her bat friend and human lover show us how humans can destroy the way of wildlife.
10: Happy Feet (1&2): A movie that shows the struggles of being different in a judgemental home/religion and how coming together to put all our differences aside can make great chances for the better.
11: Jack and the CooCoo Clock Heart: A really weird one that I love with a passion that has a tragic love story of a boy with a clock as a heart and love is the one thing that can end his life.
12: Ant Bully: Where a human child learns the errors of his way for taking out his anger and frustration of being bullied onto an innocent colony of helpless ants. Really shows how bullying can change a person, but lending a helpful hand of compassion and seeing the world through someone else's footsteps can make a big difference.
13: Prince of Egypt and Joshep: King of Dreams: As a born and raised Christian, I ADORED these movies and was really sad when DreamWorks never made anymore. It really showed the power of God and the wonders he made through the hands of his followers. Movies will beautiful animation and storytelling.
I could go on and on, but these are the ones I can think of the most. I just really miss that era where someone in animation went "Hey! Let's make a movie of some kind of non-human characters, give a weird but great plot and have a lot of heartfelt lessons in it!". There's just something about movies back then being so weird when you think about it logically, but they're just so fun and you can tell they held a lot of work and thought into them.
Nowadays, there are quite a few movies that still have like. Like the Sonic Movies, really goes into each character and very family focused with a great handling on grief and sorrow as the majority of the characters lost their families at young ages. But the newer generation just won't ever get to grow up with the beloved fever dream movies of animations I did. And I'll miss that for sure. But, I can only hope the future holds better things to left behind for the new kids.
