HK sexualizes all of his woman but the way he does it with his brown-skinned character, I’m really not a fan of. Same for his teenage characters. And fandom always excuse the stuff he pulls with Toga and hand-waves it as “freedom” but this is the same guy who made Hagakure naked for no good reason.
I never liked Mirko, because even though she was the highest ranked female pro, Hori never managed to say anything meaningful about her other than she's an adrenaline junkie and then use a lot of crotch shots and other sexualized images of her.
It's not that I don't like a "sexy" character, but that shouldn't be her whole purpose or personality.
I'm also puzzled with this newest Mirko sketch because she looks very childlike compared to her normal portrayal (maybe the big eyes?), she is clearly naked and her skin tone is way whiter than usual.
I honestly didn't recognize her on first glance and thought it was a character from another manga or his new work.

OMGG YOU WATCHED MEDALIST!??! please give the manga an opportunity, you won't regret it!! It's waaaaay better (because they made a few changes in the anime that I personally didn't like), and the mangaka's art style is very beautiful too!
I bought Vol 1 and read it. It's really pretty. I have to buy the other volumes too!
