This can be a considerably difficult thing to do, especially if you truly care about the person. But at the end of the day, relationships take commitment from both parties. If they aren’t adding to you and your happiness, let go.

The most important people in your life are the ones who reach out to you. Whether it’s to make plans or to catch up or if it’s as simple as “hey, this reminded me of you today, how are you?” These are the people that are going to be there when you need them, when no one else is, when you’re at your worse. Because sometimes you don’t need someone you’re close with, someone you’ve known your whole life, or someone who’s family- sometimes you just need someone who’s there.
