I think people tend to forget that everyone's feeling of "liminality" is different.
For instance, I may see a bright colorful play place at a mall and think about how liminal I think it is to me for many reasons, and you may not feel the same way for a multitude of reasons; whether it's too bright, or just generally not "liminal" to you.
Or, I could see this spooky dark abandon house that has graffiti covering all of the walls, little light peeking through the blinds and I could say that's liminal beacuse it's how I see it.
ANYTHING can be perceived as liminal. "Liminal" isn't JUST limited to a dark atmosphere or something spooky and abandoned. It could be a grassland, silly drawings in chalk on the sidewalk, some trees with thick snow on them; the list goes on.
"liminality" is whatever you want it to be, if you think it's liminal for any reason, or no reason; it is liminal.
