The UK Supreme Court has overruled Scottish Courts and declared the Scottish Government was wrong to include trans women in the definition of 'woman'.

Scottish Government needs to grow a spine and tell them to get fucked as far as I'm concerned. The UK can shove their 'Family of Nations' schtick up their arse.

This doesn't change anything about the average person's capacity to recognise people for who they are.

Gay love was recognised and existed long before equal marriage was recognised by law.

Biological essentialism is a fucking step back, and these hate groups funded by some of the worst cunts in society have been able to continually escalate their legal case until they've found a court who can undo everything else.

Important note here from @tgraywrites

Not a single trans person was heard from at any point by the Supreme Court before they made this ruling.

Oh, and by the way, that Supreme Court ruling is where that Harry Potter money goes.

This isn't even a slight exaggeration. JKR has openly given at least £70,000 to For Women Scotland to campaign against trans rights and fund this exact supreme court ruling. x x

Her anti-trans Crisis Centre in Edinburgh has the director of For Women Scotland on the Board of Directors. x

We can presume she's given more (financial) support off the record or in other ways.

Rowling consistently makes passive income on all Harry Potter products. Multiple sources have cited that Rowling earns anywhere between $50 million to a $100 million each year from royalties. Forbes estimated she earned $95 million in 2017 alone. x x x

It is a well-known fact that she earns net profit percentages on all her IP. Every time you buy any HP merch, from anywhere, she gets a cut. Every time you watch one of her films, even streaming or just on the tv, she gets a cut. Every time you visit Universal Studios or Harry Potter World, she gets a cut.

And she uses that money to do this. To strip trans rights at every opportunity.

This is where that Harry Potter money goes.

You want to call your House rep now and tell them Trump needs to be impeached immediately for defying a Supreme Court order (re: Kilmar Abrego Garcia), which functionally voids our constitution and means no one in America has rights anymore.

I am not exaggerating.

As of now, anybody can be disappeared, no due process, no recourse. Trump is openly disregarding a Supreme Court order and says he’ll send US citizens to El Salvador.

This is not a drill.

Call your House rep and tell them they must impeach. Tell them if they cannot bring themselves to impeach, they must resign. A more open and shut case to impeach is not possible. Trump and his administration are saying openly, in public, that anybody can be kidnapped by ICE, even in error, and disappeared permanently.

Call your senators, too, and tell them to support impeachment (it goes to them once it passes a majority House vote).

"Hello, my name is _______ and I am a constituent from _______. My address is ________.

I am reaching out today to urge Representative ______ to call for the impeachment of President Trump due to his refusal to comply with the Supreme Court's April 10th decision regarding Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who was unlawfully deported and has been charged with no crime. As Justice Sotomayor stated, this inaction implies the government's ability to 'deport and incarcerate any person, including U.S. citizens, without legal consequence, so long as it does so before a court can intervene.' This precedent is unconstitutional, highly illegal, and grounds for impeachment. Every individual, regardless of immigration status, must be guaranteed a right to due process.

Representative _____, I urge you to stand on the right side of history today by calling for President Trump's impeachment. This administration can not be allowed to continue unilaterally defying the checks and balances that are intrinsic to our government."

You can also find your representative and senators and their phone numbers on https://5calls.org/

Please don't be afraid of calling. Your job would just be to be a data point, not to sound perfect. Here's some info on why calling is effective.

fuck i don't wanna post about politics but its scaring the absolute shit out of me the story of the guy from Maryland with no criminal record who was accidentally sent to an El Salvador mega-prison where inmates are beaten, tortured, and dont have proper hygiene or medical care

like this guy had NO TRIAL OR ANYTHING they just fucking kidnapped him off the street and sent him to a foreign torture prison

El salvador has tens of thousands of people in prison and the leader brags about how horrible conditions are in there. Hundreds of people have died in El Salvador prisons according to the second link up there.

And what's more, the guy originally ran away from Venezuela because there were gangs trying to kill him.

And it sounds like there's other people been sent there too and the republicans are defending sending people to foreign torture prison WITHOUT TRIAL??? And Kristi "puppy-shooter" Noem visited the megaprison to film and show off the inmates' dehumanization and misery

in the first few pages you'll see they have a "guide" on how to recognize gang members and it's total bullshit. They have a gallery of tattoos that are supposedly "gang tattoos" but they legitimately just regular tattoos that anyone could have.

and they're like "members of the gang are usually young men 18-25 who wear clothes associated with sports teams"

i read article about it and some dipshit had commented "don't you get it? We DON'T CARE if illegals get sent to prison or what happens to them. They're rapist murdering terrorist thugs. We DON'T CARE. We DON'T CARE."

That was when I felt the most horrible sense of dread. The display of cruelty and dominance in Kristi Noem's videos, the luxuriation in humiliating and dehumanizing another person.

It reminded me of when my mom showed me a clip from Tucker Carlson speaking, saying "Watch this. I know this sounds crazy, but I almost think he has some sort of demon in him." Tucker Carlson was describing a metaphor of Trump as an angry father coming home to his disobedient teenage daughter to beat her. "This is going to hurt you way more than it hurts me!" Tucker Carlson said in the clip, with pure satisfaction and glee. He was experiencing such gratification by this fantasy of humiliating, dominating, and causing pain to someone else, and this fantasy was his political ideal. It really was just like looking a demon square in the face.

A political ideal of domination. Of inflicting pain. Of punishing and hurting and crushing. A politics that craves to see other people suffering and humiliated and treated as lower than shit. And I think the pleasure they take in that feels to them sort of golden, like justice.

We can't let this thing live in us.

Like I keep thinking of that quote that went around a couple times that talked about the author hearing the statement "Punishment is reinforcing to the punisher." and instantly feeling this pit of dread open in their stomach with its truth and how dark and horrible that truth was. I wish I could find it again because it had the same effect on me.

To me, the most chilling thing about this whole thing has been that a federal judge ordered the man brought back to the US and the administration's response was "as a judge you don't have jurisdiction over El Salvador so it's not our problem". The Supreme Court just ruled within the last hour or so that this is bullshit and they do have to get him back, but it remains to be seen what, if anything, the administration is going to do to comply with this.

Also! If they can get away with accidentally sending someone legally allowed to be in the US to El Salvador, they can "accidentally" send anyone to El Salvador! They can send protestors, they can send LGBT people, they can send someone who gets a little snippy with their city council rep complaining about an ordinance!

It's fucking terrifying.

I'm trying not to be like "They're gonna deport CITIZENS next!" because it's bad enough that they sent this guy to torture prison based on lies without a trial, whether he was a citizen or not. He's just a guy and we're just guys and we're all vermin to a fascist administration.

But there is nothing stopping them from disappearing whoever they want if they can get away with this. Plus they're literally deporting refugees that went through rigorous screening and were legally allowed to be here. They're revoking student visas. They're not checking to make sure it's legal before they're disappearing people. Why the hell would a citizen be any different?

news article from USA today describing the horrors happening in ICE detention as well. I'm not making a one-to-one comparison, but it's so reminiscent of Holocaust memoirs i've had to read. They literally have people in chains, urinating and defecating on the floor in front of everyone.

Hatred and fear of immigrants is like a cancer and we're stage 4. We're already sliding down into Hell. How did we let it go on this long? How did we let it get this bad? I know, I know the answers to those questions. But when have I overheard someone make a racist remark and not confronted them? I should have made a scene.

I should have been louder about it, anyhow, even without prompting. These people coming across the border have just as much of a right to be here as any of the white racists who want them gone, if not more.

"They're coming here to have kids so the kids will be citizens!" What, and you wouldn't be bothered to cross a border so your kid can have a good life? Sounds like these "illegals" are better parents than you. Coward. "They're taking our jobs!" What, you been up there on a 140 degrees Fahrenheit roof with a nailgun all day every day? 12 hours shifts picking vegetables in high summer? Sounds like these "illegals" work harder than you too.

If anyone has taken their eyes off what's happening to federal workers in the US right now, here's some highlights that we're hearing from our comrades across the government who have not yet been fired:

  • In one building (hosting multiple agencies), the locks on the bathroom were changed so employees no longer have any access to a bathroom during the workday. People are peeing in trash cans.
  • Elsewhere, multiple agencies have reported that hand soap is no longer being supplied in the bathrooms.
  • Toilet paper supplies have not been adjusted to meet the needs of a vastly increased number of in-office employees.
  • Employee-owned coffee and coffee makers have been stolen or thrown away without notice (it was already illegal for taxpayer dollars to be spent on supplying federal employees with amenities like coffee, so many offices have coffee supplied by pooled employee funds).
  • Meanwhile, many offices don't even have potable drinking water (recurrent legionella outbreaks), so employees have to bring their own water from home.
  • Despite an explosion in the number of workers in offices, cleaning budgets have been slashed and many offices are not being cleaned regularly enough to remain sanitary. Pests like roaches and rats are a problem.
  • The firings continue, legal and illegal. Entire programs are being cut. Managers have no idea when they might lose staff. Employees are getting fired at 6pm on a weekend or finding out when they're unable to log into their computer or when they receive a shipping label in the mail to return their equipment.
  • Through all of this, the DOGE employees in federal workplaces are enjoying incredible and expensive luxury: AI-powered sleep pods, entire dormitories so they can live in federal buildings, nurseries for their children on site, free food and beverages, laundry services, and who knows what else. They have special security to restrict access to their areas of the buildings, including armed guards.

And I'm not just saying this to lament how bad it is for federal workers. I'm saying this because, as workers are reporting this to one another, the response is, inevitably: "This is illegal." "Yes, but who would I report it to? OPM? They're a DOGE puppet. OSHA? They've cut OSHA. The Inspectors General? Cut. The NLRB? Cut. My union? No longer recognized."

There is no one left to enforce these laws, so taking away access to basic sanitation is now effectively legal. They are doing this to federal workers, who historically have been some of the best-protected workers in the country. They are doing this specifically because it demonstrates to the public sector that it is now legal to do these things to their own workers.

Side note that this is also EXACTLY what Elon did when he took over Twitter, because he thinks that paying for janitorial/environmental staff and building upkeep is a waste of money.

you don't "hate kids," you hate being forced into a caretaking role.

you don't "hate kids," you hate censorship passed off as family values.

you don't "hate kids," you hate the constrictiveness of the nuclear family.

you don't "hate kids," you're just not used to occupying fully age diverse spaces so you're not used to the noise or the many different kinds of needs.

you don't "hate kids," most public spaces just aren't built for kids, and so the few kids you see are always uncomfortable and distressed.

you don't "hate kids," you hate the intense social rules assigned to kids and anyone who interacts with kids.

You don't "hate kids," you hate how society reproduces its most restrictive elements and how kids are powerless to resist it.

No, actually, I just hate kids. They still have a right to exist, but I also have a right not to like them. 🤷🏽

Imagine saying that about any other ENTIRE group of margnalized people. Insane antisocial behavior.

Another person in the notes insulted children for having "underdeveloped brains" and I have to wonder, do these people hate intellectually disabled adults too?

they absolutely do
