i propose a redo of race to the edge, but this time with a mature rating. imagine:
(spoilers for rtte)
- actually being able to see characters deaths and wounds
- more depth into snotlout and spitelouts relationship- it’s clearly not a healthy one
- more depth into hiccstrid and other couples
- specifically, queer couples and characters- we know gobber and snotlout are gay/bi respectively, but we never get more info on that subject
- actual blood and wounds
- let!!! them!!! say!!!!! fuck!!!!!
- more clarification on which dragon fire hurts which dragons, and which ones don’t
- blood!!
- ruff and tuff clearly have things to say that are not age appropriate, let them say it
- could go more in depth with the scarier side of the dragons
- show the effects of characters getting wounded!!!!
- just. everything about dagur.
- could go more in depth with fishlegs’s anxiety?
- on that note, all of the gang’s mental health- hiccup clearly overworks and blames himself for everything, astrid has obvious anger issues and pent up rage, snotlout pretends to think he’s better than everyone else to mask his cripplingly low self esteem, fishlegs 100% has anxiety or some kind of panic disorder, ruff is already canonically frustrated with being “a woman in a man’s world” and doesn’t feel appreciated enough, and tuff doesn’t seem to value his own well being very much- not to mention that he literally has hallucinations sometimes
- and dagur definitely has something that causes him to be in a constant state of mania
- gustav and his parents- he said his mother only notices he’s gone after the third day????
- at least one person on berk has (consensually) fucked a dragon. give me some background on that.
- at least half of the riders cursing like sailors
- being able to show sicknesses better- the time astrid caught the scourge of odin, the time astrid got deathly poisoned, plus the time astrid went blind (astrid sure does get beat up a lot damn)

i think one of the biggest misconceptions about the story narrated in preacher’s daughter is that isaiah cannibalizes ethel as an act of love.
there is nothing romantic about it. isaiah is sadistic and manipulative, and ethel falls right into his trap. the warm and idyllic love describe in “thoroughfare” is nothing but ethel’s romanticization of her own abduction.
isaiah knows how to play this game very well. he’s practiced. he knows exactly what he is he doing and he picks ethel because she is vulnerable, alone and needs a place to stay, someone to trust. and in fact, she does trust him.
ethel feels bliss in this reality he offers her because it’s been so long since she last felt a sentiment even remotely similar to love. he tells her to be happy and grateful, so she is. (“I'm happier here 'cause he told me I should be”)
he has done this plenty of times. hayden basically confirms it in the demo of “strangers”, when she says “when you chewed me up and shit me out like every bitch you’re done with”. his plan was always to kill ethel. he drugged her and pimped her and when she was starting to become hard to handle, he killed her and ate her.
there was nothing loving about isaiah eating ethel.
he ate her because he was hungry.

To second this; when people say ["ethel feels guilty in "am I making you feel sick", as she's given him stomach poisoning by "turning in your stomach"!"] I find that so hard to bear. whilst yes, that's a concept which could be applied as it could factor in how she felt in thoroughfare, it's not correct. Her literal SCREAMS of "AM I MAKING YOU FEEL SICK" are her reflections on how she fucking HATES isiah. It's so, "am I? Am I now? Well fucking good I hope I stick to the lining of your stomach and push up acid through your vomit so you can taste again what you've done to me. "
