So...if you've followed me recently because of Wheel of Time...are you sure? Are really sure? I'm incredibly inconsistent and post random intere-- Okay then.

I tag:

#wot book spoilers for book spoilers

#wot prime spoilers for when I vibrate with excitement over the show before the latest episode is even over

Don't go too far back in my general #wheel of time tag, coz I might have missed re-tagging some old book meta and fanart that might spoil you

Non-WoT followers: I'm so sorry, this is my new hyperfixation. You knew this coming in.

Honest to God, I'd love if, "There are two genders, Saidin and Said" was the elementary school version of the One Power, and by the time you get to college, it really should have been, "Who the fuck knows, even", but the WoT world just has not reached that point yet.

No, but the implications of Ran and Moraine's talk is so INTERESTING, because.

Everyone in this age thinks the submit/dominate dichotomy when using the One Power is a gendered thing. Women submit, men dominate. As is, I understand, the case in the books.

But this conversation implies the divide is not actually gendered, it's about the quantities of power involved. Once there's too much power in a weave, you need to be in control of it, or it washes you away. And this would be extremely significant in explaining why the Aes Sedai have gotten so much less powerful; they think they need to submit to channel always, so they simply can't handle more powerful weaves.

Late to the season 1 defense but: a rewatch says season 1 FUCKED, actually. Even the changes I was iffy with at the time are now charming to me. Some stand-outs: Lanaeve meeting, season 1 Mat's humor, Cauthor road trip (shorter as it was), babygirl Rand, warder culture, Randgwene.

I know the advice to keep your parents from going into deep conservativism and conspiracy theories is to get them into a community but. The last time my mom joined a community, she got into a cult and then was scammed. So. What are we gonna do.
