Daily Pokemon Crochet

@dailypokemoncrochet / dailypokemoncrochet.tumblr.com

Gotta crochet em all~ No patterns. Stop asking about patterns.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) & Update

1. Are you selling these / Are you doing commissions / Can I buy one?

> No I am not selling anything. No commissions. I delete all asks that ask about selling/buying/commissions.

2. Can I have a pattern / Where did you find the pattern?

> No patterns. I freehand everything. I don't share any of my patterns. I delete all asks that ask about buying/having one of my patterns. I am generally okay about asks that are more about a specific technique or tips.

Pokemon Crochet Pattern Masterlist

Never thought I'd finish this but I finally tracked down a crochet pattern for EVERY Pokemon*. Gonna say that 85% of them are in English but there's a few I could only find in other languages (should still be understandable for the most part), ~30% of them also have videos, a majority have images but a handful are text only... Give me another day and I'll put together another post with more stats lol

You can find the list in this spreadsheet, with links to at least one pattern for every Pokemon, videos if applicable, names/websites of their designers.

*Up to date as of 4/1/2025 with at least one entry for each Pokemon, but not every single alternate/variant

I put a lot of work into this so reblogging again for anyone who missed it the first time around

Maw-rch art challenge: Drednaw! 4h41! Little details I'm proud of here: neck slightly extends for extra snapping turtle-ness, all the little toes, the shell ridges, has a little tongue that can go blehhh!

This is probably the last pokemon I'll be able to make this month which would mean 3 Maw-rch March pokemon 😵‍💫

Does Iron Bundle's neck have a wire in it??

Nope! Just a thin crochet tube! It's too thin to fit a wire in it so it's pretty flimsy.

I like to see this blog have rare pokémon crocheted especially because it is fun to imagine that in the pokémon universe someone crocheted someone's special pokémon for them

Hehe it's funny to me because right now it seems like I classify Pokemon based on how difficult/detailed they are to crochet, so I don't really register which Pokemon are rare when I'm making them. Like, there are quite a few rare and legendary Pokemon that are overly detailed imo that make them stand out to me, but there's also a lot of them that are kind of simple design-wise like the Sinnoh Lake Guardians so they feel like just regular Pokemon.

This reminds me of a comment on my slideshow video post a few years back where someone pointed out it was funny that each Pokemon got the same amount of screen time (like 3 seconds?) so it'd be like rapid fire rattata, caterpie, yungoos, DIALGA?, mudkip, etc etc. Amidst all these regular Pokemon, just random legendaries popping up with no fanfare. It's like in the Pokemon universe if someone was just swiping through all the photos they've taken of their Pokemon and nonchalantly was like "and here's my Giratina, and here's my Meowth," lol

is there any particular order youre crocheting the pokemon in or is it just whichever one you feel like that day?? love all ur work btw !!!!!

Thanks!! It's mostly random! I've got a bunch of different themes for each month this year that help me narrow down the list a bit for what to crochet any particular day. This month was Maw-rch for big mouthy/toothy Pokemon, and coming up next month is Ape-ril for ape-like Pokemon!

just wanted to send a message to let you know i really appreciate you sharing your creations, they are super cool and i love showing them to my partner who crochets but knows nothing about pokemon lol. living with a crocheter really has helped me understand the labor of love that goes into making everything. i hope that you treasure your collection of crochet pokemon forever. they are really special 💜

Thank you! I'm glad you're able to enjoy sharing them with your partner, that's really heartwarming 😊 And for sure I'll always love my collection of all these little guys I've made :D

remember to stretch your wrists:)

thanks. i do. i would like to think you're saying this out of kindness, but it comes off as condescending because this is something i've talked about here multiple times and emphasize the importance of a lot. i wouldn't be able to crochet to the extent that i have for all these years if i didn't know to do my hand/arm/wrist stretches.

Okay so this is technically it’s about patterns but more like. Asking for advice about patterning? But no need to answer if you feel like it’s crossing that line!

So when you start a Pokémon (say Pikachu or Eternatus) do you just blindly go at it? Or do you break down each element, piece by piece (say, would you do Pikachu’s red cheeks separately and then glue or sew them on, or would you switch yarn in the middle of the face to do it in one go)? Do you do a few practice/trial runs first with mystery yarn and write down what works and what doesn’t, or is it like intuitive at this point?

(Sorry if this does cross the no-patterning line!!)

I've talked about this before in other asks but I don't remember how I tagged it lol. There's also some stuff about my process in my crochet tips tag.

I wouldn't say I blindly go at it because yeah a lot of it is intuitive at this point. I still do break down the parts for each Pokemon mentally, but more in terms of shape and color (so Pikachu was like, 1. head-body, 2. set of feet, 3. set of arms, 4. set of ears, 5, tail. Colors yellow, black, red.) As much as I can, I like to make details in line with the normal crocheting, so in the Pikachu example, I would just switch between yellow and red yarn while crocheting the head instead of making the cheeks separately. I will never glue pieces on, that honestly sounds insane to me. I might embroider some details if that's more cost effective in terms of time, or if the details are too fine to portray as well with just color switching. If the specific part is something that bulges or distinctly "added on" (like the red crystals on a Gigalith), then I'll either make those pieces separately and sew, or crochet them on top of the main piece. I don't do practice/trial runs, I just go and write down what I do every row or few, frogging and adjusting as needed. A lot of it is very intuitive for me now.

Closest I can think to describe how I do these is like, back in the days of dial up internet when an image would load from the top down, line by line. It's like that but in 3D. Like if you built a hollow lego structure from the top down. Like reverse 3D printing. I look at the 3D model in the pokedex as reference, identify the major shapes and the colors, then make each shape by working at it from one side and working at it in a spiral, switching colors as I go.

It’s ok that you haven’t been able to crochet, we all love you!!!! You do amazing work!!

Thank you! I wish I wasn't so tired all the time lately so I could actually work on it more tho
