"It seems now so strange that anyone could want to derail a woman who's determined and has a joy and a passion and wants to do this thing. I think that's what I loved most about playing Trudy, is there's so much joy. There's so much joy in her, and I also wanted to make sure that we were telling a story about someone that simply wanted to do something! She wasn't thinking about her impact on the world; she just loved swimming. I didn't want to give that any other reasoning except for her own want. That joy was great, because I haven't played that as much in the roles that I've done before."

Daisy Ridley about playing Trudy in Young Woman and the Sea

"It was interesting because I actually remember turning up and being surprised that the zombies were as present as they were. Tonally, for me, the film is such a combination of different things. I look at this film as a woman seeking answers and a woman seeking some reconcile between mistakes she's made, trying to find her husband, trying to figure out what their life is going to look like if what she finds is that he's alive and available—not zombified. So it's interesting, I actually remember being surprised the zombies were as apparent as they were because I can't remember reading that much— of course you're drawn to the things you're drawn to. For me, that was the story of Ava. And, of course, along the way she meets the zombies. But I really felt like this story is exploring grief and the notion of the in-between, which is where they are. They're neither here nor there; it's where Ava is, really, for a lot of the story. She's trying to get to somewhere else and she's sort of stuck in a place of not knowing."

Anonymous asked:

love the new gifset! can i ask what video the bts roll of Daisy for Rise of Resistance is? I've always wondered but I've never seen a source before

Hi Anon! Thanks for the ask. So glad you like the gifset!

The scenes are from a newly resurfaced vid from the "Star Wars Galaxy's Edge: Adventure Awaits" special. Nick Tierce on tiktok edited Daisy's bits together.

It's so fun that we now not only have video of Daisy making the ride, but getting to go on the ride herself! 💜

"John, it's impossible to say how much you mean to all of us. Your music for Star Wars, like all your music, has truly become part of our DNA. I can't fully remember the first time I heard 'Rey's Theme'. I was in such sensory overload I believe I blacked out for a moment. But every time I've heard it since I'm transported back to the scoring room I visited, watching you conduct a room full of incredible musicians, elevating the work we had put on film beyond recognition. Through the power of music you continue to inspire us, terrify us, comfort us, and send us flying across the face of the moon. As an art form, the movies — quite simply — are better because of you. We love you, John. Happy birthday. And here's to many, many more."

Happy Birthday, John Williams!!

"Daisy was not only a fine actress, but she's so great to work with. She's one of those all-or-nothing actresses. When you see the fights, they're pretty vicious and pretty tough. She did most of that herself."

—Director Martin Campbell about Daisy Ridley in Cleaner (2025)

"I feel incredibly personal about the things I make anyway, but this is obviously next level. So it's been amazing and also quite overwhelming and strange... Certainly in a creative way, building a character from the ground up knowing so intimately every word, every line, every moment. And really knowing that with the rest of the characters. Really feeling that— particularly with Tom's writing. And then being on set hearing his words be spoken knowing that each word, each sentence, each comma means something is sort of amazing."

Daisy Ridley about her original concept movie Magpie (2024)

"The only time we have done this — talking about Magpie — was at South By, which was an amazing place to premiere. It feels so strange because it feels so long ago, but it's sort of close. The film is so personal to us, but it's so wonderful to share it. And people's responses have been so varied. To go from us keeping it to ourselves to be able to interact with people and have conversations about how people have received it is really exciting."

Daisy Ridley with husband Tom Bateman about their film Magpie (2024) at the Twin Cities Film Fest

"As an actress, I am constantly assailed by doubt. Will people come to see my film? Will they like it? Will it have meaning in their lives? Receiving such honors [the Hollywood Rising Star Award] allows you to reassure yourself. It means that yes, people have understood the messages that I wanted to convey through my films… I love cinema, and I love my job. One of my strengths, even though I’m not a writer myself, is knowing what can help a script, and what can help a film. And then on my last project, the entire crew was made up of men. I was really the only woman on this shoot. So my point of view was of crucial importance. I hope, as a producer, to work for the well-being of the teams. I am lucky to have always been treated well, throughout my different films, but I know that this is not always the case... I wanted to create a work environment that is healthy, enthusiastic, joyful. For Magpie, I am very proud because I am almost sure that everyone was happy to be there. We have a party in a few weeks, and everyone wants to be there. A real victory for me."
