Polyamorous Exchange - Featuring Krem!

Creators have been revealed so I can share the piece I made for the @dapolyshipping exchange! This was my first time writing Krem so I had fun trying to find his perspective. Let me know what you think! <3

Title: A Romantic Evening with Friends Relationship: Cremisius "Krem" Aclassi/Cullen Rutherford/Cassandra Pentaghast Words: 4,829 Rated: M https://archiveofourown.org/works/60620932

Summary:

Cullen & Cassandra have been together for a while, but they have a massive crush on their dear friend Krem. Krem has a hard time believing that.

Krem reread the letter a fifth time, mumbling to himself in a disbelieving voice that let more of his clipped Tevinter syllables slip through than usual. “You are invited to a romantic evening…” The words were so clear and yet he couldn’t wrap his mind around the meaning. Was there some kind of mistake? But no, his name was scrawled across the top of the page in formal, looping handwriting that he had rarely seen penned by the Seeker’s hand — Ser Cremisius Aclassi — perfectly aligned on a piece of Cullen’s stationary with an honorific of respect he didn't truly have claim to. He wouldn't admit it to anyone in the Chargers, but the unearned title thrilled him a little whenever his friends bestowed it upon him. The envelope had been sealed in red wax, stamped with the seal the two had designed together when they got married. Krem recalled Cullen agonizing over the border.

Cassandra had hand delivered the note earlier that evening saying to open it once she’d left, so there was no mistaking its origin. She had stood with her shoulders back and exuded a raw confidence that he usually saw reserved for the battlefield, or perhaps before a particularly harrowing public event. He had been a bit star-struck by her presence even though he’d known the Seeker years. But the particular jut of her jaw and the fire in her eyes made it hard to look away from her as she retreated down the stone hallway. Then he read the invitation. A page arrived with a bouquet of flowers not thirty minutes later and found Krem in a state of shock.

That means I can share my piece! I got the delight of writing a slew of my favorite characters and favorite ships. Excerpt below as Krem attempts to wingman for Cullen and Dorian, but gets in way over his head.

Krem also realizes he’s a little in love with them both.

Of course this is about more than their relationship. He’d befriended them somewhere along the way, a camaraderie stretching beyond station, and all along, Krem thoroughly believed that was the whole of it. They’re good men, both better than they think they are, both beautiful and a bit damaged and entirely deserving of something steady and tender. He’s been so single-minded in his goals, blinders tight, that he completely missed the why.

And somewhere along the way, Krem’s gotten his own heart tangled in the strings he’s weaving.

Hello!

For our event, we require the conventional tagging of '/' or '&' in order to meet AO3’s basic relationship guidelines. This is to ensure that the works created for our exchange are able to be filtered and found by all AO3 users, since non-traditional tags are not wrangled.

From our nomination guidelines:

  • '/' is to be used for romantic or sexual relationships. (Please use this for queer platonic relationships as well.)
  • '&' is to be used for friendships.

You are welcome to use QPR tags in addition to the required tags.

  • Be careful when editing your sign up!! AO3 has been known to add "Additional Tags" to your selections. Update!

Due to the ongoing A03 cache issues, we’ve extended sign-ups until Wednesday, September 25 at 12pm ET

We highly recommend:

  • Starting your sign-up ASAP!
  • Drafting and saving your sign up elsewhere before inputting it into Ao3
  • Finishing your edits by Tuesday at the latest

Since you may lose progress multiple times during your sign-up, don’t want to wait until the last minute! For more information on the current issue, check out the AO3 news on tumblr.

Sign-ups will be closing in just under an hour, so get your last minute ships & edits added now!

‼️ PLEASE NOTE: If you requested a ship that is not in the tagset in the Additional Tags field, the mods will be deleting it or altering spelling/order to match a nominated tag. This includes ships that include an OC/PC but do not have gender/origin information, i.e. "Inquisitor" instead of "Nonbinary Lavellan".

‼️ If you added treats tags to your offers, please remove them! Anyone can write treats, they do not have to be formally offered, and adding that tag to your offers messes up the AO3 automated matching.

Please also be aware that the mods are all at work today, so matches may be sent out later than they have been in years past. We aim to have them sent no later than Friday, September 27th at 5p ET - barring any major issues, they will be out much sooner.
