The word ghetto is a derogatory term used most often in reference to minorities. It’s used to describe our neighborhoods which are overpopulated and economically restricted, our personalities if we don’t act appropriately or speak proper english, and way too often it’s used to describe our sense of style. A style that was born from not having enough. A style that has birthed music genres and influenced runways around the world. For people of color being ghetto or from the hood is the norm. Some of us are ashamed of where we come from and work hard to get out, while others love their hoods and never want to leave. During this pivotal moment in time we thought about the importance of taking pride in every part of who we are and representing for our people. When we say our people, we do mean black people, but we really mean ALL BLACK PEOPLE. To our LGBTQ community, black community, and afro latina community this collection is for you. The Ghetto Pride collection features 5 designs inspired by the ghetto culture that defines most of our communities and honoring the fact that we are the trendsetters of america.
