@elainweekofficial Day Five — Friends and Family

The tragedy of losing a home, but the opportunity to build another. Home is, as they say, where the heart is.

I always wondered what Lucien may have felt when he reached the end of Elain’s bond, and what Elain may have meant when she said that all she needed was sunshine. A future built off of the backs of two people seemingly lost in this world who found their way to one another. (Ft. Grandpa’s sunshine)

PLEASE DO NOT REPOST

I unfortunately will not be able to finish the fic I had planned for Elain week today, but enjoy some head cannons I have for the prompt friends and family.

-Elain uses some of Feyre’s paintings as a way to inspire some of her cake decorating.

-When Elain gets annoyed with the way someone acts, she pranks them by putting salt instead of sugar into the cookies, and watches them eat them.

-Nuala and Cerridwen teach Elain how to winnow, because she feels they are the only two that listen to her without bias, and will teach her how to do it.

-When Lucien visits Elain in the gardens he impresses her with all the flowers and plants he knows and their purposes.

-Feyre, Elain, and Nesta bake together one year for solstice and Azriel comments on how much of a disaster the kitchen looks like but they could care less.

-Elain takes Nyx out for picnics and walks in her garden and teaches him how to plant flowers.

-Elain enjoys going on n flights with Rhysand the most.

-Mor and Elain became bond over their love for dresses.

-Vassa and Elain love talking about adventures.

-When Lucien takes Elain to the Autumn Court, her wanting to see where he grew up and to meet his mother (Beron is no longer high lord), her and Lucien pick apples from the orchards and make apple pies with them since apple pies are his mothers favorites.

-Elain gets along well with Eris’s hounds, and his hounds absolutely adore her.

-Elain travels the continent with her family.

I See You: An Elucien Fanfic

Elain week Day 4: Seeing and Unseeing

After Azriel rejects her on Solstice night, Lucien finds a distraught Elain, leading him to comfort her.

Ever since Elain Archeron had been thrown into the cauldron she had felt her fate be forever sealed. The luck she had accumulated throughout her lifetime had suddenly run dry as if she had been well that had suddenly lacked water. And she blamed it all on that Gods damned cauldron.

As soon as her foot had hit that water, it had felt it suck every bit of good fortune she had accumulated. Her life, her betrothal, everything. She had lost everything. Perhaps she should not have gambled with her luck when she had everything to lose.

First it had been her mortal life. One that she had cherished. Feyre had grown accustomed to this life, thrived in it even, and Nesta-while Nesta still struggled to accept her life as fae, Elain had always thought Nesta had never been meant to be human, but she had.

For @elainweekofficial Day 4: Seen & Unseen — Elain with Jesminda

Here’s Elain basking in the sun with my version of Jesminda from my fanfic A Court of Embers and Sunlight. I have to insert Jes into everything but UGH I can’t help it I love her so much. One of my favorite things to see in Elucien fics or Gen Elain fics is when Elain gets visions of Jesminda from the past, or she sees and speaks with her spirit. So I felt inspired to draw that for this prompt.

And now a ramble about me gushing over these two girls:

In the Belly of the Beast: An Elain Fanfic

Synopsis: Elain’s experience in the cauldron.

Ever since Elain Archeron was a little girl, she had always been plagued with night terrors. Perhaps that was why when a fae male came into her room, blending in with the shadows, she had thought she had imagined him, until his hands had attempted to drag her out of her bed,

Sue did not think it was real at first, until she felt the bruising hands of the fae male upon her flesh, knowing her pale and delicate kin would probably bruise tomorrow as she noticed the males hands were devoid of any calluses.

She kicked and screamed furiously, holding onto her bannister until the fae male climbed onto her bed using the full force of his body to pin her down.

She screamed louder, desperate for someone, anyone to hear. Praying to whatever Gods would listen for Nesta to wake up and hear the commotion. Or for Mrs.Laurent to immediately wander in like she did ever night before she took her leave. But no one was coming to save her.

The male finally pried her away much to her displeasure, pinning her hands behind her back as he bound her hands together, her sobs being cut short by the gag he also placed in her mouth.

She let her silent tears fall, expecting the male to do horrible and vile things to her before he picked her up and carried her downstairs.

Despite the bindings that held her hands, she tried her best to escape his hold to no avail. That’s when her eyes caught on a puddle of blood on the carpet.

Elain screamed past her gag as she beheld the dead body of Mrs. Laurent, the women lying dead with her eyes staring blankly at the ceiling. The woman who had tired her best to protect her and her sister at all costs. This male had probably snuffed her life out without a moment’s hesitation.

She made a silent promise to the female that she would do whatever it took to bring this male who had killed her to justice as the male opened the door, a carriage waiting nearby as she struggled against his grip.

Her struggles were to no avail as he threw her into the carriage, a muffled curse following her as Elain glanced bewildered at Nesta.

Fear shone in Nesta’s gaze as the carriage lurched forward, a mist spraying into the carriage as her eyelids grew heavy and her body thudded to the floor.

She gasped, two fae males gripping her arms hard, the other two guards carrying Nesta between them as they carried her and Nesta to a throne room, Elain eyes widening as she took her in. Feyre.

Her heart beat fast as she screamed and cried over her gag. What was Feyre doing there? What the hell was-

Her eyes lifted, swearing her heart froze as she beheld a king one the others had warned them about. The King of Hybern and behind them-behind them were those queens. What was going on here?

Feyre’s face remained frozen. Shock, horror, and terror washing over her face as Elain glanced at the Dias again, glancing at the two other fae males up there. Ones she had remembered from her sisters stories. Tamlin and-what had the red haired fae males name been? Lucius? Lukas? No that didn’t sound right, and she had no earthly idea why she was trying to recall at this moment when she had more important things to worry about.

Things were in chaos and she swore she couldn’t keep up with their conversation, she found it difficult to breath, they were talking about the cauldron, accusations being hurled towards her sister and her group of friends, and then she heard the kings plans to demonstrate using them that the cauldron’s powers could work.

No, she thought. Fear making her heart pound in her chest as the room erupted.

Her sister, Feyre and her friends and lover were thrown to the floor with the explosion of power, Elain tried to stay upright as she heard an earth shattering scream and her sister’s cries over her gag. Barely noticeable in the chaos, as she took in the horrible sight of Cassian’s wings, shredded by that ungodly power, his body hunched over Azriel’s, but then movement caught her vision.

Feyre, so distracted by the chaos, had not noticed Tamlin rushing towards her, ready to grab her and forcefully remove her from where she stood as Elain shouted a warning to her sister, Feyre’s eyes now moving to Tamlin as she unsheathed her knife and hurled it towards him.

He avoided it, deciding it was smarter to stay in place as Morrigan lurched towards the king, ready to rip out his throat as he sent a fist full of power at her, knocking her off center, taunting her with his words before the guards boxed them in, the king threatening them to stop. To Elain’s surprise they did.

Dread so deep in pooled in the pit of her stomach, knowing any chance of her escape whatever this fate was was inevitable as the king instructed,

“Put the prettier one in first.”

Feyre lurched forward, one of the guards grabbing her from behind as Rhys looked as if he was at least trying to get to her.

“Please refrain from getting any stupid ideas, Rhysand. If any of you interfere, the Shadowsinger dies. Pity about the other brute’s wings.”

He turned towards both of them, that onyx stare boring into her, making her stomach turn as he gave both of them a mocking bow,

“Ladies, eternity awaits. Prove to their majesties the cauldron is safe…for strong willed individuals.”

A glance at her as if he doubted her strength, if her hands weren’t bound she would show him how strong she really was.

The guards grasped her tight as she was carried forward towards the cauldron that looked anything but inviting. She shook so hard that she swore her skin would’ve fell off her bones if it wasn’t attached.

She sobbed, crying out for someone, anyone to help her. She did not want an eternity of this life, did not want an eternity chained to this world when she was already perfectly content with the one she was living.

The iron ring laid heavy on her finger, burning into her flesh as if in warning of the inevitable before she heard Tamlin command.

“Stop.”

The king did not listen as the guards dragged her further, she tried to drag her heels to delay the inevitable. To delay her new fate.

“Stop this.” The male beside Tamlin shouted, going for his sword, she hoped he severed the King’s head from his body.

Due to the guards strength, she yielded step by step, her eyes casting towards the ceiling, praying for mercy one last time.

She saw liquid filling the cauldron, her stomach roiling at the sight as she fought as hard as she could, hearing Nesta’s bellows of rage from behind her, but she was as useless to stop this as she was.

“This is not apart of our deal. Stop this now.” Tamlin spat as Elain cursed him. It was a little too late for regrets now.

A blinding light leashed him when he tried to get to the king, his friend staggering forward a step to perhaps assist him when she felt the guards lift her.

No.

She slammed her feet again not the damn cauldron, hoping that she could tip it over. They would not take her away from her life that easily. Away from her human life she always desperately wanted.

“That is enough.” Lucien bellowed, she swore he stepped towards her as she sent another kick to the cauldron the guards struggling to keep hold of her.

He fell to the floor beside Tamlin. She heard Feyre beg and plead, praying to show them mercy, but Elain knew those vicious bitches would not hear her.

Her foot hit the water, tearing a scream of fury and terror from her throat.

I’m sorry Greyson. Was he last thought before the guards shoved her under.

“I’m worried about her.” A familiar voice said as Elain gasped, lurching forward as she cried out,

“Mom?”

She got up from where she had been lying on the bed, walking the familiar halls before she happened upon her mother and father, her mother looking every bit as youthful as she had been before her death. How was she here?

“Mom!” Elain exclaimed about to rush to her side and embrace her, but her mother showed no sign that she had heard her. And neither had her father now that she thought of it.

She glanced at her hands, noticing she was near translucent as she tried to rest one of them upon her mother, her hands passing through her before her father cupped her mother’s cheeks between his hands answering,

“I am sure that our sweetest Elain will be fine.” He assured her. So they had been talking about her, but she had no recollection of this memory.

Her mother turned her face to the light of the window as if she did not believe that was the case.

“I was her age when my night terrors also started.”

Elain’s lips parted, she had never known that her mother had also suffered from them, perhaps they had not helped her mother when her emotions ran high during those last days. The ones she could never forget.

“They are only dreams, my beloved.” Her father assured her as Elain observed her parents.

She had always known her mother as callous and cruel, but her father, well, her father had always seen the best in everyone. Including her mother.

“They are more than dreams and you know it.” Her mother argued, prying his hands from her face and throwing them as she launched up and paced towards the window as if she were on edge.

“Beloved, I know you’re not in the best place right now, but-“

Her mother spun around, pinning him with that icy gaze. She wife it was times like these where she had considered her mother as something other than human.

“Dreams are only dreams if they do not come to fruition, my dove.” She spat back making her father flinch slightly.

“Your dreams have only done that a time or two, my love, every other time they were simply-“

“Do not talk down to me.” Her mother snapped again causing even Elain to flinch at the power her voice held.

“You have no idea. None. You have no idea what it is like to wander in your dreams and then have them become a reality. These night terrors are horrible enough without them becoming-premonitions.”

Elain sucked in a breath. She had heard a few stories of mortals who could predict devastating events. But her mother- No, she could not have been one of those females.

“You know what I see?” He mother asked him, her father’s brown eyes glancing at her as even Elain’s own were focused on her mother.

“I predict myself dying young. Our ships sinking into the abyss. I dream of our daughters being carried off to a land of my own personal nightmares, screaming, pleading for me to help them, but I am not there. I predict you, losing yourself, and those thoughts have me terrified.”

Elain felt the air grow heavy. Her mother, everything she had predicted, had come true.

She wrung her hands, nervously picking at her nails like she had done when she was a child as her father stood up, crossing over to her mother as he drew her in, glancing down at her in reassurance.

“I am not going anywhere, my beloved and neither are you. These dreams…we will handle them the best that we can.”

She yearned to hear her mother’s answer took a step forward, her mother’s eyes suddenly snapping forward as her mouth twisted in a scream sending Elain flying backward, only her back did not meet solid ground.

She felt as if she were falling into a dark abyss, tumbling down with no sense of direction as something sharply yanked her pivoting her to the side as she fell out of a bed, the room dark and dingy as she breathed in relief. It was her and her sisters old room at the cottage.

“Elain?” Nesta asked, her voice carrying to Elain in the dark as she breathed a sigh of relief.

Her sister was here, she was safe and they all weren’t….Elain froze…

Nesta’s skin was pale, lifeless. Her face contorted in an open scream as Elain screamed herself,

She jumped up, grasping at Nesta’s cold and clammy body. Her lips pale and lifeless as Elain tried to shake her awake.

“Nesta!” She screamed, “Nesta!”

She lurched towards Feyre’s side, shouting a plead for her other sister to help but she was not there.

“Don’t worry Nesta. I’ll get help!” She called out, rushing towards their father but as she opened the door she was sucked into that dark abyss once more.

She gasped, coughing and sputtering as she felt cold, shocking water surrounding her.

The cauldron! She gasped as she tried to fight against the current of it.

Strong hands seized her, panic overwhelming her again as she fought that punishing grip, striking out with her hands and her feet to get whatever guard was holding onto her to release her before a familiar and terrified voice shouted,

“Elain! Elain, darling, it’s me!”

She stopped, righting herself up as Greyson pulled her to him. She sobbed in relief, throwing her arms around him tightly, not wanting to ever let go of him.

A sense of calm washed over her, keeping her there as she inhaled his scent of clove, pressing her damp fingers to his bare chest to feel the steadiness of his heartbeat. His beautiful human heartbeat. Nothing could compare.

Had it really been only a week ago since they had both given into their love and desire for one another? A week ago since she had been tangled with him in his sheets, whispering promises of forever on her skin. She could not fathom all that had happened since.

“What has you so upset, My Love?” He questioned, his voice gentle as she nearly broke apart.

Was she really here? At the swimming hole where they had met last summer, when she had taken some time off from the busy season to have a moment to herself to cool off.

It had been improper, and if any man who had not been Greyson had wandered upon her, society would have claimed her a disgrace, but when he had beheld her, making her freeze as if she were a fawn, he only smiled and wandered away,

He had called upon her a week later. Claiming that he had been so infatuated with the sight of her that he just couldn’t contain himself.

Nesta had not liked the sound of it, claiming that he came across as too forward, but to Elain she admired his honesty and ambition to claim the things he wanted,

And soon after their courtship, she was completely enamored with him as well. She had told her about her hopes and dreams, about her ambitions to see the world some day, and he had clung onto her every word, and when he had waned in to kiss her one day, she swore she could feel forever in that kiss. Now as he stroked her hair, she wasn’t sure. Had forever been snatched away so quickly with the flip of a King’s hand?

He pulled away slightly to see her face, to assure that she was alright and in one piece, before that loving gaze she had been so used to twisted and contorted into something cruel,

“Greyson. What is it? What’s-“

He grasped her by the hair, shoving her head down under water as her lungs begged for air, what the hell was he doing to her?

Panic gripped her as he pulled her up by the roots of her hair, making her cry out as he tilted her head so she was glancing directly at him, hatred, betrayal, and disgust painted over his features.

The glint of his dagger caught the sunlight, cutting off her scream as he pressed it against her throat.

The tip burning fiercely as she cried out in pain. He still held her steady so she could not escape his grasp.

“Greyson.” She cried in a panic, “Greyson, what are you doing?”

“Silence you implement creature. You dare use her skin? You dare use her face!”

“Greyson. Grayson, please I don’t know what you’re talking about! I don’t-“

But before she could say anything further he plunged his dagger into her heart.

She gasped, her hands clutching at her heart as hot iron poured into her skin, she screamed, water filling her mouth in rage and betrayal as darkness engulfed her.

Water engulfed her, crushing her under the weight of it as voices rang around her, she clutched her head begging them to stop as one carried over them.

Silence.

Hot tears streamed down Elain’s face, the pain from her chest damn near blinding as she reached for the dagger, but did not find it there.

“What is happening to me?” She asked, the voices surrounding her now growing silent as the one who remained answered,

“You are being forged,”

“I am no weapon.” She answered, rage consuming her as she swore she felt the presence pause.

“That is where you are wrong my dearest Elain Archeron.”

She glanced up into the darkness.

“I am not sharp tongued like my sister Nesta or as resourceful as my sister Feyre-“

“But your mind is your greatest weapon, my dear.”

“My mind? I do not understand- I-“

“You will learn soon enough,”

Before she could ask more questioned, she was sucked back in time, through space and worlds and everything in between, Elain felt her body tumble from the cauldron. The warm water splashing around her as if she were a body washing up upon the ocean as her soul slammed back into her body making her gasp for air.

Her gown was still soaked, she trembled from the cold, her eyes taking in nearly everything as she heard the king say.

“Behold.”

She rose up on her arms, twisting to find her family, as she took in Feyre and Nesta’s shocks of horror. Nesta roaring over her gag. Because she knew, she knew if she glanced at herself, she would see the arched ears tucked in her hair, and the unnatural glow of an immortal fae.

She trembled, disgust overcoming her as she heard the Queens amazement, the king commanding for her sister to be taken next.

She couldn’t watch, couldn’t bare to see if Nesta, her source of strength, would make it or not, she couldn’t bare the sight of it.

The guard snickered at her, taking in the sight of her damp gown, of her breast now on full display as shame and embarrassment overtook her.

A snarl tore from someone’s throat,

“Don’t just leave her on the damned floor!”

The fae male with the red hair stalked towards her, rage and disgust in his features as he took off his jacket, kneeing before her as she flinched away from him-

She didn’t want anyone to touch her. To see her like this.especially not after what she had just endured.

The fae male noted this, dealing the jacket on her shoulders instead so his hands would not make contact with her as she pulled it to herself, desperately trying to fight off the shock, cold, and numbness she felt.

She clamped her eyes shut, wanting to shut out the chaos of the room and her sisters screams, her other sister crying on the floor as the sound of it pierced her heart.

She heard the splash of the water as she smelt the vomit splashing in the floor. She didn’t know how long it took before she heard that water splash in the floor again. Her heart beating erratically as it t surged towards her.

No. Not again. Not-

The fae male hoisted her up, the water missing her completely as she held her breath, waiting with bated breath, the vision of Nesta’s lifeless body still haunting her mind, praying to any God that would listen that she would be okay, she had to be-

Something surged in the air, a sense of impending death and destruction as Nesta drew her first breath. Elain nearly wept in relief.

Then that feeling was gone, she heard Nesta’s panicked gasps, ones she would have usually helped her with as she heard Nesta’s rushing steps.

Nesta collided with her and the fae male, knocking him off center, causing him to fall back as she swore something snapped into place,

“Get off her!” She shouted, pulling Elain up from the floor, her feet slipping against the floor, as Nesta called her name over and over again, but something kept her there, kept her from answering Nesta’s worried pleas as Elain stared at the fae male as there was an invisible string between the two of them, tying them together.

Lucien. His name was Lucien, she recalled as his name in her mind made his eyes snap to hers, his voice breaking as she heard him say,

“You’re my mate.”

And she swore her heart shattered in response.

Too Sweet: An Elain and Eris fanfic (NSFW)

Elain week day 2: Hobbies

Synopsis: After Elain’s boyfriend, Lucien breaks up with her, her friends Nuala and Cerridwen convince her to join them for their cooking class, but when she runs into her ex boyfriend’s brother, she finds herself in a rather sticky situation. (AU)

She glanced around the empty apartment, sitting in the middle of the barren floor where all his belongings had once been.

He was gone. She realized, biting down on her lip hard to surpress the tears that begged to come out of her.

He had been threatening to leave for a while, had been telling her that he felt the spark dying between them and he wasn’t sure for how long he could do this for. He had especially been saying it all this week before she had come home today to an empty apartment, his note still clutched in her hand, and every trace of him disappeared from it. She could hardly believe it.

She wasn’t sure if she had called them or if they had sensed that something was wrong, but one moment she had been kneeling in the floor, going over every part of their relationship she could to see where it had all gone wrong and the next she had heard urgent knocking on the door, a slight curse, and then the rattling of the door before her best friends Nuala and Cerridwen burst into the room, Naula’s eyes wild before she spotted Elain.

Cerridwen rushed to her side, her skirts bellowing out around them as Nuala followed suit, making a cloud that surrounded all three of them as the tears she had been holding back finally spilled out.

“He left me.” Elain had sobbed through her clenched teeth, clinging onto that note, the last trace of him she had had left

She swore she both saw them wince as if they had seen this coming for a while. Had she really been that oblivious these past couple of weeks?

“You knew that he was going to leave me?” Elain questioned, betrayal settling within her as Nuala grimaced, Cerridwen fixing her with an urgent gaze. Telling her to tell Elain the truth.

“We didn’t want to tell you this because at first we thought it was nothing but-“ Nuala took a deep breath before she continued, “He has been going to lunch a lot recently with one of his coworkers. Vassa, I think her name was.”

Elain blanched, she had heard that name before, Lucien had been telling her about his new coworker Vassa for the past couple of weeks. Had even joked about how people had called her his “work wife.” And everything. Elain had just been too secure in their relationship to think it wouldn’t go further than that.

“So he’s been cheating on me?” Elain asked,

“Not intentionally. As far as we know there’s been nothing physically between them, they don’t even hold hands when they’re together, but we have heard he is smitten with her. And they stay at the restaurant for hours just-talking.”

“So she’s a better woman than me?” Elain questioned feeling lost. Sure, she had been pretty busy recently trying to open up her new business and she had not been able to see him for a couple of weeks because of it, but she never knew he would be willing to find someone else so quickly. Vassa just gave him the excuse to finally leave.

“Elain. It’s his loss. You shouldn’t give him the satisfaction of letting him know it’s getting to you.”

“I think you two should leave.” Elain told them, seeing Cerridwen wince, about to argue as Nuala placed a hand on her shoulder and shook her head, her eyes pleading with her twin sister to just give her some time.

“We’re only a short phone call away if you need us.” Cerridwen assured her, lifting herself up and giving Elain one last reassuring squeeze before her and Nuala left Elain to her solitude.

Elain sang at the top of her lungs, losing herself to the lyrics of So Long London as she used the spoon she had been using for her ice cream to act as her microphone.

Lucien had always wanted to take her to London. Now she would never know what that felt like, not unless she saved up the money to go by herself.

Sighing, she heard a knock on her door, taking in the sight of her in her crop top and her pink underwear as she shrugged moving towards the door as Nuala sighed.

“Still in the dumps?” She asked as Elain shrugged,

“I was with Lucien for three years. I’m allowed time to wallow.”

“It’s been a month.” Nuala reminded her as Elain rolled her eyes, sighing as she went over to her phone opening it as she threw it over to Nuala.

“He sure had no issues with moving on as soon as possible.” Elain growled as Nuala glanced at the photo of Lucien and Vassa, his hand on her hip, her smile so bright that it had punched a new hole in Elain’s heart. Why the hell was he so happy without her?

“That’s it. You’re coming with me.” Nuala argued, throwing her phone onto the couch.

“What? I can’t sit here and wallow?” Elain challenged.

“No. You need to do something besides sit in this apartment all day. And how long has it been since you took a real shower?”

Elain shrugged, not caring how it looked or how unpresentable she was. What was the point when all she did anymore was go to work and go home to an empty apartment alone?

“You need to get out of your funk, Archeron. When was the last time you had something besides take out. I know how much you love to cook.”

“I just haven’t been in the mood okay.” Elain shot back, feeling defensive. Why did it matter so much to everyone how she dealt with everything? It was her breakup after all.

“Well, that all changes today, Cerridwen and I booked you a spot in our cooking class today and you’re going, whether you want to or not, and for the love of God, take a real shower first.”

Elain huffed, ready to argue until she saw the worry in Nuala’s eyes and that fight died inside her.

“Fine. I’ll do this one class, but that’s it.”

“That’s all I ask.” Nuala smiled taking in Elain. “And wear something cute. The instructor is-well, let’s just say that he’s quite the looker.”

“Does it look like I’m ready to date?” Elain asked, gesturing to herself.

Nuala’s eyebrows rose,

“Who said anything about dating? You don’t need to date to flirt and fuck.”

Elain puffed out a breath of air,

“As if that instructor would find me fuckable.”

Nuala wiggled her eyebrows,

“Only one way to find out.”

Elain sighed, turning around to head towards her shower, wondering what she had just signed herself up for.

An hour and a half later, after a much needed everything shower and a nice change of clothes, Elain putting in her best sundress to appease Nuala, the two headed off, Nuala shoving Elain into her and Cerridwen’s Volvo as Cerridwen glanced over to her.

“You clean up well.” Cerridwen teased as Elain rolled her eyes.

“It doesn’t take me that long to get presentable.”

Cerridwen gave her a knowing look as Elain flipped her off, earning a chuckle from her,

“Well someone certainly has had an attitude adjustment.”

“Getting dumped by your boyfriend would do that to you.”

Cerridwen shrugged, “I wouldn’t know. All I’ve ever had is girlfriends.”

Right.

Elain glanced out the window as Cerridwen kept her eyes on the road, putting the car in drive as they drove to their cooking class.

When they got there, the class was packed, the other participates talking excitedly amongst themselves as Elain, Cerridwen, and Nuala took their seats.

“So who is this instructor anyway?” Elain asked as Cerridwen shrugged

“I just picked the first one that looked interesting, I didn’t bother to look into the instructor beforehand, because what’s the fun in that.”

Elain sighed, tossing her hair over her shoulder as she set uo her station, hearing the door open and shut as the classroom silenced.

“Holy shit. Talk about a smoke show.” Nuala muttered underneath her breath, biting her lip slightly as Elain’s eyes drew up only catching the instructors back and to Nuala’s credit it was a hell of a back.

“That ass alone can stop me dead in traffic.” Elain answered as Nuala bit her lip to contain her laughter. Cerridwen rolling her eyes in agitation.

“Please. Can you two go anywhere without ogling a guy?”

“No.” Elain and Nuala replied in unison sending them into a fit of giggles,

“You two are impossible.” Cerridwen groaned as Elain rested her chin in her hand.

“Gosh the things I would do to him.”

Cerridwen’s eyebrows rose,

“You haven’t even seen his face yet.”

Elain bit her lip,

“I don’t have to, him being a redhead is enough for me.” Elain mused, she had always had a thing for redheads.

“Wasn’t Lucien also a red head?” Cerridwen inquired giving her a knowing look, Elain opening her mouth to respond as the instructor had turned around, Elain’s mouth dropping over as the devil himself came into view.

Because the instructor she had been fawning all over, the one whose bones she had been willing to jump mere seconds before, was none other than her ex boyfriend’s brother, Eris Vanserra. And those amber eyes of his were looking straight at her. Fuck her life.

If Lucien Vanserra was the personification of sunshine itself, then his brother, Eris, was the storm cloud that smothered it out.

Elain herself had had the displeasure of meeting Eris’s acquaintance at his family’s yearly Halloween party.

The Vanserra’s had a reputation of being the biggest fanatics of the fall season and their Halloween parties had been no exception.

She had just been shy of dating Lucien for six months when he had asked her to come to his family’s party. She had been ecstatic to meet them, tentatively relationship to his brothers be damned as she had picked out a costume that she had thought would be unique that year. She had dressed up as Jennifer Check from he of her favorite cult classics Jennifer’s body, even going as far as to get her cute pink heart jacket and the same exact jeans so she could be unique that year.

Unfortunately for her, Eris’s plaything at the time had thought of the same idea, so when she had gone to the kitchen to grab her and Lucien some beers, she had had her back turned, about to grab the cans when a hand had snaked against her waist, the other firmly cutting her ass as a different scent besides Lucien’s, one of cedar and cinnamon, filled her nostrils as a raspy voice asked,

“This party is getting pretty boring, want to take it upstairs.”

She had squealed, stroking her hand out as hard as she could, bunching it up into a fist as she connected to Eris’s face. Profanities spilling from his lips as some blood streaked the floor,

“Gosh Brenda. I thought we were-“

He stopped taking in Elain as mortification filled his features.

“You’re not Brenda.” Eris had said to her as she adjusted her jacket in annoyance,

“No fucking shit asshole, who the fuck are you?”

His mouth had opened in answer before Lucien’s voice had filled the room,

“Elain, what’s wrong? I heard you screaming and-“

He took in the scene, his eyes moving to the blood on the floor,

“Eris, you prick, what the fuck did you do now?”

Elain gaped,

“You two know each other?” She inquired.

“Since he was in diapers.” Eris growled out as she glanced to Lucien confused,

“Elain, this is my brother, Eris-“

“Half brother.” Eris spat out causing Lucien to roll his eyes,

“Fine. Elain this is my half brother Eris Vanserra, Eris this is my girlfriend, Elain.”

“Girlfriend.” Eris blanched, suddenly looking rather embarrassed,

“Yeah, asshole. Girlfriend. Do you make it a habit to grope women you don’t know?”

Lucien’s gaze turned stormy as he focused it on Eris, who held his hands out in surrender,

“I thought she was Brenda.” He argued, Elain about to say something about how that was such a load of bullshit when a woman she assumed was Brenda, dressed in the same exact costume she was, rushed to Eris’s side.

“Oh, Eris, baby, what happened?”

Eris’s jaw ticked as he answered,

“My baby brother’s girlfriend has quite the fist.”

She looked at him , puzzled.

“I thought she was you.” He explained as a fierce blush painted her cheeks, taking in Elain as if she had just noticed that they were wearing the same exact thing.

“Nice costume.” Brenda spat at her, grabbing Eris’s hand and pulling him to the dance floor,

“Nice meeting you too.” Elain muttered swiping her and Lucien’s beers from the counter as she handed him one,

“Dance with me?” She smiled as Lucien smiled with her,

“It would be my honor. My lady.”

Now she was gazing upon those same amber eyes, a spark of recognition and mischief playing over them as Elain gulped. Had he heard her? Surely not.

He strolled over to her, that damn cedar and cinnamon scent engulfing her again as he leaned towards her and smiled,

“Hello, Elain. Long time no see.”

A blush painted Elain’s cheeks as she swore multiple heads swiveled in her direction.

“Hello, Eris. How’s Brenda?” She asked sarcastically, dripping her voice with an edge of sweetness.

A smirk played on his lips as he answered,

“Now Elain, I broke up with Brenda two years ago, you know this.”

Elain shrugged. “Forgive me Eris, it’s hard to keep up with all your escapades.”

She expected Eris to falter somewhat, but that Gods damned smirk stayed firmly planted as he retorted,

“How’s my brother?”

Elain flinched, knowing that the retort had been coming. There was no way in hell Lucien’s family didn’t know that they had broken up, estranged brother or not, his mother Scarlett would have at least told him.

“I wouldn’t know. He ran off and got himself a new girlfriend the last time that I checked.”

She swore she saw sincerity in Eris’s gaze as he backed away from the table,

“Enjoy the class.” He muttered, the smirk returning once more, “and the view.”

Her mouth gaped open, Nuala chocking off a laugh as Elain sent her a warning glare. This was going to be a long day.

“I told you, you didn’t do it right.” Cerridwen sighed looking at their sad attempt at a soufflés as Elain shrugged,

“To be fair. He did warn us not to get discouraged if it didn’t come out right.”

“Such a studious pupil. What happened to you hating him?”

Elain shrugged, “I can’t act cordial to my ex’s brother.”

Cerridwen shrugged. “Is it cordial or do you just find him hot.”

“He’s my exes brother.” Elain reminded her, sticking her finger in their sad attempt.

“Doesn’t mean you still don’t find him attractive.”

Elain blushed, despite the fact that Eris wasn’t usually the type of male Elain went for, she did have to admit that he was rather attractive. That trait had definitely ran in the family.

“What did you do to it? Whack it with a spoon.” Eris teased, observing their dish as Elain shrugged,

“Perhaps I didn’t pay as much attention as I thought I did.”

“Something distracting you, Archeron?”

She held his gaze, a challenge in them,

“What if it was?”

Nuala fixed her with a what are you doing? Stare, but she ignored it. Perhaps this was exactly what she needed.

He leaned forward so only the two of them could hear as he whispered into her ear.

“You busy tonight?”

She but her lip, it had been a while since she had been with someone else. Who cared if it was her exes brother? Lucien hadn’t cared when he walked out on her for another woman, why should she care if sleeping with his brother hurt?

“What did you have in mind?” She inquired, holding his heated gaze. Had he always looked at her like that?

“Well, as you could see, I’m a hell of a cook, perhaps I could show you a thing or two tonight. If you’re up to it.”

She bit her lip, the twins looking at each other with slight concern before she answered,

“You know where my place is, right?”

A mischievous and sultry smile blossomed in Eris’s lips.

“It’s hard to forget, Archeron. I’ll see you tonight.”

She leaned back in her seat letting him wander to the next table, as Cerridwen hissed.

“Are you crazy?”

Elain shrugged, “Just doing my due diligence and going through my post breakup stage of flirting and fucking.”

Elain smiled as Cerridwen shot Nuala an accusatory look as her twin shrugged,

“Just let her do it Cerridwen, the girl obviously needs a little fun, and Eris is just as good of a guy as any.”

“I’m just saying it sounds like a bad idea.”

“That’s what makes it more fun.” Elain said with a wink, going back to their next dish as she thought about what might happen tonight.

Her cabinets rattled as she clung onto her kitchen counter for dear life, her eyes rolling in the back of her head as Eris thrusted inside of her, his hand wound in her hair to use it as if it was a set of reins.

One second, Eris had been making her dinner , asking if she could grab some plates, before she felt his hands caress her ass, pulling up her skirt and slipping down her things as he had whispered,

“You want this?”

She had nodded and now they were here, with her bent over the kitchen counter, and him taking everything that he wanted.

“Do you know how many times I’ve imagined doing this?” Eris panted out, thrusting up inside of her.

She gasped, clutching onto that counter, his words sending heat down to her core.

“You’ve imagined me bent over a counter taking your cock?”

“Ever since the moment I first laid eyes on you.” Eris admitted as Elain fought a hint of a smile. “And let me tell you, this is better than I imagined it.”

She moaned as he hit a particular spot, the force of it making her cry out in ecstasy.

He palmed her breast, riding towards his ecstasy as she felt her own peaking, her orgasm unleashing as she felt him pull out. Feeling the splashes of his release on her back as he blew out a breath.

She laid down on the cool counter as Eris grabbed one of her clean dish towels, cleaning her off as he asked,

“Was that good for you?”

Elain turned, facing him fully. His eyes traveling down the confides of her body, swearing she could see the urge for him to try her again, to taste her delicate skin.

She coughed sending him out of those thoughts as she threw back on her sundress. Still needing some time to recover from their rough fucking. Though she did not object to the thought of having sex with Eris again…this was the first time in a long time that sex had been…fun.

“Should we get back to that dinner?” She asked as a hint of a smile played over his lips.

“Ready to see how a master in the kitchen’s food tastes?”

She smiled, her eyes traveling down that body as she said.

“I bet I could make better.”

He laughed, the sound sultry and delicious,

“Well in that case Elain, maybe you should make the same dish and we can see how they compare.”

She sent him a grin of her own as she walked towards the fridge replying,

“Challenge accepted Vanserra.”

Glass shattered on the floor, the sound of it reverberating through the room as Elain grabbed the next “priceless” thing Azriel had gifted to her, ready to chuck it at his head as his arms flew out in surrender. Like he was trying to calm down some rabid animal instead of the woman he had been cheating on.

“Please, honey, sweetie, just let me explain!”

Her nostrils flared, her hands slamming in the table to grasp her iPad, until she found the evidence she was looking for.

“Explain this.” She hissed in fury, watching his face pale as he saw what the article was.

Hunger Games chapter 3 discussion

One thing I notice straight off the bat in this chapter is how the Peacekeepers go about taking the tributes to the Justice Building. Katniss says that the tributes aren’t handcuffed, but they do march them into the building and she wonders if it might be because tributes have attempted to escape in the past though she’s never seen it happen.

One thing that happens in Sunrise on the Reaping is that Woodbine Chance after being reaped attempts to escape and one of the Peacekeepers ends up shooting him. So it might have been something that was implemented after that happened. (The same way there’s no electric fence during Sunrise on the Reaping but there is at the begging of the Hunger Games)

Also another thing I noticed is how much inspiration SJM takes from The Hunger Games at least the begging of it, because both Feyre and Katniss’s background stories are similar down to even the first animal they hunt. But there’s also quite a few differences to their background stories as well, like Feyre’s family being from a wealthy merchant family before they lost their fortune, while Katniss’s family excluding her mom had always been apart of the seams.

For example, both Feyre and Katniss have issues with their parents (Feyre with her dad and Katniss with her mom) because they both let the family fall into a state where they were both impoverished and their families were left hungry so they both hold onto resentment from those times. Another detail is that their parents both became this way after the death of their spouse.

Both Katniss and Feyre learn how to hunt out of necessity to feed and take care of their families. And both of them try to teach their sisters how to hunt, however both their sisters are not able to do so. So I found all those details interesting.

Another thing that I appreciate is the social commentary on mental health and medication for mental health and how inaccessibility to medication can equal detrimental results. So I appreciate how Suzanne Collin’s can work in smaller discussions in her books without it being the overall discussion of them.

I also wonder if the urgency in Madge for Katniss to take the pin is because it belonged to her Aunt Maysilee who is also a victims of the capitol’s cruelty, but I also wonder if Madge knows who created the pin as well.

So another thing I noticed is how Gale even though he says it grimly tells Katniss, how much different can it be to kill humans than when she does it to animals. Katniss in her inner monologue says that if she could forget that they’re human then it probably wouldn’t be difficult at all. And I do wonder if this is the mentality that Gale keeps when he assists with Beetee and Coin with those bombs. I also wonder if it might be a social commentary on the military.

Also there is a brief mention about Johanna in this chapter and how she won her Hunger Games by tricking others into underestimating her abilities. I do really love Johanna as a character so im loving all these connections I’m seeing now that I’m done with the full series and I have the full scope of what is going on. Also I knew that District 12 was Appalachia but I had forgot the fact that the Capitol is actually Colorado, which I find interesting.

There is also a mention of how Katniss speculates that their must be more about the rebellion that started all of this then the Capitol is letting them know. And I do know this is a commentary on how people can rewrite history. I don’t remember much about the District 13 stuff or if we learn more about the rebellion from them, but I still wonder if there’s still things about the rebellion that we still don’t know and I wonder if that’s a book Suzanne might write in the future.

I had also forgotten that Katniss’s dad lived to sing and he has a fondness for Mockingjays. Which adds yet another layer to the Mockingjay pin.

Lastly, I do appreciate the last two pages in this chapter where Effie says a really tone deaf thing about the previous two tributes and how they were ill mannered, but Katniss recalls that the two tributes from last year were from the seams and barely had enough food to get by, and she’s angry at Effie’s response, because Effie doesn’t know what it’s like to be starving or how those two kids lived. It’s not something she has to think about, which a lot of people have the same mentality that Effie does. Espicially when it comes to how some people comment about families who have to get government assistance in order to eat, and how they feel like they can make commentary about how they eat because they are using their taxes in order to do so.

There’s just so much social commentary in this chapter that I enjoyed reading it,

⚠️Hunger Games Series Spoilers⚠️

Rereading the Hunger Games over a decade later.

Chapter 2 (Hunger Games) discussion

So there isn’t a lot that I picked up on this time that I didn’t already on my first initial reading of the Hunger Games. One of the very few things that I had forgotten about in this chapter is how District 12 had a community home, and Katniss’s urge to keep her and Prim out of that home is why she started to provide for her family.

Another thing that I didn’t remeber during this chapter is how they avoid saying a person’s cause of death is starvation, rather they blame other illnesses for it.

It reminds me of when I was reading Sunrise in the Reaping and we get to people thinking Lenore died from Appendicitis when in all actuality she died from poisoning. So I wonder how many other people have died (rebels espicially) of different causes then what are listed.

Also I want to make a note that Katniss is a Taurus. The book explicitly states she was born on May 8th which is Taurus so I find it fascinating to see that so far I know she’s a Taurus and Haymitch is a cancer. So I’m enjoying my reread so far, onward to chapter 3

Hunger Games Reread

Chapter 1 discussion

So after I finished Sunrise on the Reaping I felt like the best way to cure my book hangover for this one was to reread the Hunger Games for the first time in over a decade.

After reading chapter 1 there was so much about this book series I had forgot about, for starters I forgot about how Panem was created. I had not recalled that Panem was built after climate change and natural disasters had destroyed North America. I remembered how The Hunger Games had started out, but for whatever reason my mind had forgotten this detail.

Another detail I notice very early on in this book is Gale and Katniss’s discussions about having children. I know there are a couple of people who share their displeasure about how Katniss became a mom at the end of the series. However, she explicitly states that she only doesn’t want to have children because she doesn’t want to subject them to the Hunger Games nor does she want another mouth to feed because she’s already taking care of her family. But at the end of the series, Katniss does change her mind about wanting kids because her circumstances have changed.

Another thing I want to touch upon is Gale’s character and the things I notice about him so many years later right off the bat. His anger and rage at the circumstances that the capitol has put him and others in comes off the page right off the bat. Which makes a lot of sense considering what him and the other people who are apart of the seams have been through. Even Katniss herself understands Gale’s anger, but also doesn’t not see the point of it unless he’s willing to change things.

Also I would like to point out that Lucy Gray is mentioned in this chapter when Katniss is recalling who in her district has won the Hunger games. She explicitly states that there have been only two victors from District 12 and only one of them is alive (which is Haymitch) so she is mentioned in the first book.

Also now that we have further context about the Mockingjay and how it was crafted for Maysilee by one of the Covey, and now it is in Madge’s possession (Maysilee’s niece) it makes me tear up that much more.

But those are my thoughts so far on chapter 1. I’ll be doing a discussion on all the chapters and we’ll be rereading the whole series (including Ballad and Sunrise on the Reaping)

⚠️Sunrise in the Reaping Spoilers⚠️

No one can convince me that Lenore Dove’s death was only to punish Haymitch for defying the capitol and trying to start a rebellion. Lenore Dove is a Covey and not only is related to Lucy Gray, but also shares a lot of similar qualities to Lucy as well. You can’t tell me that Snow’s life long obsession with punishing those who scorn him does not play any part in Lenore’s death. It was not only a way to punish Haymitch, but the Covey and Lucy Gray as well.

FORGET ABOUT SMUT. PLEASE I AM TIRED OF IT. I NEED ANGST. I NEED GUT WRENCHING EMOTIONAL TURMOIL THAT MAKES ME SICK TO MY STOMACH. I NEED TO BAWL JUST FROM THINKING ABOUT IT.

I may love smut but I love my angst more.

I want to set a firm reminder before I post anything for Elain week that I have no problems writing for multiple of Elain’s ships even her crackships because I find it fun and refreshing to write for more than just one ship . But I do ask for no bullying, harassment, or ship wars during this time, especially on my platform, I have no quires about blocking people, espicially if they start something on my platform. Remember I, as well as many other creators, are human and sometimes it’s okay not to make something out of everything.
