“‘Sup,” Bucky says, entering the kitchen.
Steve looks up from his crossword, cup of coffee halfway to his mouth.
“‘Sup?” He says, blank stare and an eyebrow raised. “What are you even saying?”
Bucky plays nonchalant, grabbing an empty cup and pouring himself some coffee since Steve won’t do it.
“What?” Bucky asks. “What’s wrong with sup?”
“How do you even know what that means? Who are you hanging out with, thirteen year olds?”
“Hey, don’t patronize me, Rogers. Plus, there’s literally a seventeen year old running around the hallways of the Tower, running fucking ops with us. Even then, sup isn’t that modern of a slang!”
“Oh, slang huh? What is this, some kind of full-life crisis?” Steve snickers, writing down a new word.
Bucky sputters, “I’m not that old!”
“You’re literally over a hundred,” Steve deadpans.
“Whatever,” Bucky grumbles, “you’re no fun.”
“I’m plenty of fun,” Steve counters.
“Sitting there completing some old man puzzle,” Bucky says, pulling up a chair and sitting down in front of Steve.
“Crosswords are good for you, Buck. They keep your mind active.”
“My mind is too active, thank you very much.”
Steve shrugs, rolling his eyes.
“If you say so.”
Silence falls over them for a couple of minutes. Steve finishes his crossword and starts another one, Bucky finishes his coffee and stands up to do his morning stretches. Steve chuckles, which has Bucky turning his head around.
“What’s so funny?” Bucky demands.
Steve keeps chuckling, “you’re young, eh? Out here doing your old man morning stretching routine.”
“Hey!” Bucky complains, head between his legs. “My muscles get tight, you know that! Been that way forever!”
“Sure, pal,” Steve grins, shaking his head.
Bucky straightens up with a huff. He walks over to Steve, who looks up at him knowingly. Bucky grabs him by the chin and looks him in the eye.
“You’re awfully mouthy today, kid,” is all he says.
“Yeah?” Steve grins.
Bucky looks him over for a bit, then breaks out in a smile himself.
“Good morning, punk.”
Steve stands up and grabs Bucky by the cheeks.
“Morning,” he chuckles, and smacks a kiss on Bucky’s lips. “Want some breakfast?”

Somewhat of a continuation of this piece
An ask I received from @deadalien (tumblr is playing funny buggers and won’t let me reply to it)
I don’t recognise the fic, but it sounds like something I’d read - does anyone recognise it? Or does anyone perhaps have a downloaded copy?
Captain America
Song: Bright Eyes - First Day of My Life
This was something that took FOREVER to finish for a variety of reasons, which I’m pretty disappointed in, but HEY! I finally finished it! So that’s something. And it’s Bucky coming home to Steve. Nothing new.
It was mostly just an experiment in inking. Still a lot to learn, especially in regard to line weight, as well as what I should use for whites on the paper I draw on (acrylic paint, which is what I wanted to use, messes up the paper too much, unfortunately), but I definitely learned a LOT. The first few pages have changed a lot since I first started inking, I went back and played with them a lot more the more comfortable I became.
Also I know the place doesn’t look like Steve’s place shown in The Winter Soldier, just pretend he moved somewhere else after it got all effed up or something IDK. I don’t know why I swapped it but eh.
Also I apologize if the text is hard to read, I had a MASSIVE brain-fart on that, for some reason.
For the love of all that you enjoy: DON’T PAYWALL YOUR FANFICTION.
Again, but louder:
It’s getting more and more common. I’ve seen three posts about it in the last 24 hours - patreons where you’ll get “exclusive” fanfiction stories if you’re a subscriber.
Don’t.
Don’t do it.
It’s annoying, but mostly it’s fucking dangerous.
The whole fanfiction community prosper on someone else’s turf under “fair use” laws. In simple terms: we can play with other people’s creations for as long as it’s done for our own amusement, and that of our followers.
Once any kind of financial benefits are made, it becomes another abuse of someone else’s rights.
And look, I get it. It sucks, especially seeing the artists take commissions while the authors get nothing, and it takes hours and hours of our time, and I understand people are looking for a side hustle to make ends meet in this monstrosity of a capitalist society, but if we don’t stop it from happening, the rights owners will stop it.
And they’ll stop it for everyone.
It’s not worth it. Don’t do it.
I feel like I don't rec enough Stucky, so please have this list of some of my favorite Steve-forward Stucky fics!
Not a Perfect Soldier by TooManyBattles (Skarabrae_stone) (@captaintoomanybattles) (Mature | Graphic Depictions Of Violence | 93,354 words)
Summary: In a world where HYDRA was wiped out in the '40s, Steve is found by the Army rather than SHIELD. General Thaddeus Ross wants a perfectly obedient super-soldier at his command, and to that end, he sets out to break Steve to his will. As Steve struggles to come to terms with all he has lost, his life in captivity is only made bearable by the presence of another prisoner-- another super-soldier known only as "Soldat". Then the Avengers strike a deal with Ross to "borrow" him for missions, and Steve is faced with a team who dislikes him, an organization he doesn't trust, and the question of what he's willing to do to escape Ross's clutches.
Lessons in Normality by relenafanel (@relenafanel) (Explicit | No Archive Warnings Apply | 38,002 words)
Summary: Things Steve knows about his boyfriend Bucky: How he looks with his face relaxed in sleep. That he can perfectly flip pancakes. The way he’s open about things Steve is still adapting to, like therapy and depression and sex toys and being a millennial. The way he laughs with his mouth wide open and his eyes squinted, and the cheerful way he cheats at cards and loses at laser tag. The way he seduces Steve with a knowing glint in his eye. The way Steve responds to it, stronger each time, taken by his beauty and competence and snark and compassion (or the compassionate way he boots Steve in the ass when he needs a push). Things Steve doesn’t know about his boyfriend Bucky: That he’s an undercover operative gathering intel on Hydra, SHIELD, and which Steve is affiliated with. Otherwise known as The Honey Pot AU
I Remembered You Were Mine by hobbitdragon (Explicit | Rape/Non-Con | 4,455 words)
Summary: Steve awakes in a strange place with a familiar face standing over him. He has no idea where he is or how he got there, but at least Bucky is with him. Also available as a podfic read by Tipsy_Kitty (@tipsyxkitty)

Steve Rogers & USO Ladies
2024 was my first year as a member of @renegadeguild and thus first time participating in their annual gift exchange! I ended up binding four fics for my giftee that I've been posting over the last week now that said giftee has received them!
Fandom: Legend of Zelda
In line with the themes of both Breath of the Wild and the fic itself, I based the design of this bind on the idea of deconstruction. The book’s working parts are therefore not only visible, but fairly conspicuous.
The binding method is called a Swiss bind. This is a technique where the cover is only attached at the back of the book, so when it opens the stitches of the spine are exposed. In this case, the text block was thick enough it felt necessary to give the spine a little extra support, so I used a strip of thin white cotton, through which the french link stitches can still be seen!
The stamp I used on the cover was originally made for decorating textiles. The design reminded me of the silent princess flower, which symbolizes Zelda within the game, and I chose a vibrant blue as the accent color on both the bind’s interior and exterior in homage to Link’s champion tunic.
To the text I added interior illustrations from The Ruins of Rome, a series of etchings published c. 1640 by Dutch Golden Age landscape artist Bartholomeus Breenbergh.
