1. Yes, he could push himself to the limit. He had nervous breakdowns and physical injuries. (We don't forget the fact that his mother is forcing him to train all the time)
2.Yes, they are aware of his existence and treat him with warmth. Ragatha often invited him to her home for the holidays, where he could spend time with her relatives.
3.No, I speak Russian.
