First of all, thank you 😁 But also, this is a good opportunity for some advice actually!! Bc this is something I've been telling artist friends for a bit
If you have any animation abilities at all, I highly recommend using animation in any area you want to draw attention to! I can't tell you the exact statistics, but the amount of followers I've gained on a weekly basis has gone up exponentially on all my social media since I made an animated pinned post. Humans instinctively notice motion more, so animation is a powerful tool to make yourself stand out!
That being said, adding a gif to job hunting emails is an untested theory of mine, so I can only advocate for this working on social media :P BUT here's some advice if you're going to try it:
- Make it a small file!! You don't want it to take a long time to load, or to overload their emails. This one is only 643 KB and it works great.
- Format it small in the email itself, the gif should not take up a huge amount of space. It's just a little added flavor, it's not the main event.
- Don't go overboard with the motion, make it simple! If you make it TOO attention-grabby, it could just annoy people. I'm gonna go back and add more time between the waves in this one, because even this is a little too distracting.
Wish me luck, and if you try it, I hope it works great for you!! 🤞
