(Forgive me for replying so late; in my humble defense, I received this when I was sleeping, and by the time I woke up the underwhelming news about the 10th anniversary had already been disclosed.)
I see why you'd say that. The thing is, I used to think the same a lot: “Man, the bsd author probably isn't very fond of Atsushi or Akutagawa, if the only time they write a novel on Atsushi they need to be specifically asked to do so by the editor. That's probably why 55 Minutes is so slept on and didn't get any other adaptation (like literally every other novel has, be it stage or anime or spinoff manga), because the author just doesn't care about them.” But then, in an interview the author said this:
And it was so groundbreaking, at least for me. And yeah, sometimes it sucks! When it means that sskk don't get much extra content for themselves. But it's also kinda dope, kinda exhilarating, to think: sskk is so important, their relationship is so important, no other subsidiary medium is worthy of telling their story other than the very original manga. And it's a little insane.
