Have you ever looked closely at a car windshield?
The edge of the glass is painted where it is glued to the car but it has these small dots between the clear and painted glass.
These are there for a reason. When the sun hits the glass the painted areas and the clear areas will absorb heat at different rates. This causes the glass to expand and contract differently putting stress on the glass.
These dots help the glass to warm up more evenly over a larger area so the glass does not suffer stress that could cause it to spontaneously explode.
Fun fact: the Tesla cybertruck doesnโt have these.
Yes, the glass will spontaneously crack or explode in the sun.
Seriously though "tankie" has been watered down from its meaning so heavily that it's lost all meaning. Even when you make these obnoxious liberals give their personal definitions of "tankie" they themselves don't even use it that way. It's a worthless insult that never truly had a place in the modern day anyways, it's just a term that makes losers and invertebrates feel cool.
It was never a good insult, it was used first against communists who supported the Khrushchev clique (side note, communists fucking HATE Khrushchev so it wasnโt support of Khrushchev overall just this one decision) sending in the tanks against a Hungarian uprising, this uprising was recently proven to be a U.S. backed colour revolution, communists have believed this was U.S. backed colour revolution for a long time nice to see it proven.
Itโs always been an insult left anti communists use against those who take a consistently revolutionary and anti imperialist stance. Yes it has been recently turned against those who originally coined it but it was always the rhetoric of anti communists.

any book reqs? Hereโs some of the books I read in highschool that I think about a lot to this day:
I especially think about the memoirs
I think I legit have the essay I wrote in junior year about educated up on ao3 lmao
Going back and reading it I think the essay is kinda shit but my teacher really liked it ๐
Hey brother! Thanks for sharing! I have only heard of Fahrenheit 451 and the rest of them are completely estranged to me! Perhaps I'll look into them. What kind of books are you looking for?
every time I learn what foreigners think of Americans I catalogue that info in my head because I genuinely have no clue about American stereotypes. I learned that Americans are seen as like overly friendly?? Is it not normal to have small talk with strangers and like exchange life stories or smile and wave when you make eye contact ๐ญ
also I hope American tourists arenโt as annoying and stupid theyโre stereotyped to be. Iโm so afraid that if I ever go to another country I will be seen as rude or inconsiderate and I feel like if I did travel outside of the us I would force myself to become as fluent in the countryโs language as possible before I go because I have extreme social anxiety.
Maine has 1.3 million people but is 900 square miles bigger than the Czech Republic lol
i mean tbh americans (at least to me) are seen as overly nice but in a naive way, also theyre like really loud. and theres something super recognisable like i can instantly tell if someone is american just by their mannerisms and what theyre wearing, not too sure how to describe it. also they tend to be seen as entitled in a way (ie seeing everything from a us perspective and acting like the world revolves around the state)
NO offense meant to the person that sent the ask this just prompted me to think
I can very easily tell when someone is USAmerican just from the way they speak about the world/other countries. It's such a distinctive type of egoism that bleeds through their words that couldn't possibly come from anywhere else in the world. Even those who think they're ultra progressive rarely actually and fully deconstruct their USA centrist worldview. Which I don't inherently hold against them, it's a deeply rooted thing that'll take god knows how long to fully unroot. But what I do hold against them is that they try to argue with me. Excuse YOU? I'm sorry for pointing out that you're speaking REALLY oddly of this set of third world countries?? All hail the USA or whatever god damn dude

I didn't find any info on this one, but it's so beautiful!

Teenagers are rarely taught the reason why they can't consent to sex with adults.
And that's because teaching them that would completely unravel our coercion-based society.
It can be difficult to explain in detail the exact reason and all the specifics in a way that they will understand. But the simplest way to phrase it is that in some cases, even when someone agrees to something and even when they appear enthusiastic about it, there's too much of a power imbalance that it's no different than forcing them. Also, having power and being abusive doesn't require a conscious expectation to be obeyed.
Imagine a world in which every teenager understood that and was easily able to call out anyone who tried to convince them otherwise.
They'd know that there's no such thing as an employee consenting to working for a poverty wage, working in unsafe conditions, working long hours, or working without taking breaks. They'd know that there's no such thing as consenting to paying a bank overdraft fee. They'd know that there's no such thing as consenting to student loan debt. They'd know that there's no such thing as consenting to medical bills. They'd know that there's no such thing as consenting to generating profit for banks or landlords in order to have a place to live and being evicted or foreclosed when you lose your source of income. They'd know that there's no such thing as consenting to a police search. They'd know that there's no such thing as a child who's okay with their parents spanking them. They'd know that being dependent on someone does not mean that you can never criticize them. They'd know that if it's considered abusive to simply play along when someone obeys, then it has to be much more abusive to actively expect to be obeyed, which many adults do to them.
And people who benefit from a society based on coercion masquerading as freedom wouldn't like that.
So instead, teenagers are taught something dismissive. They're taught that what they want doesn't matter. They're taught that they're too young to know what love is. They're taught "it's the law". They're taught things that are insulting to their intelligence, which they'll naturally rebel against.
