Ffs its just getting worse

can i say in seriousness i dont really agree with that ask not just because this is dream we're talking about, someone whose main drive with people IS their empathy and understanding over any other motivator so like lol impossible, or that he's actually a mature adult who understands the concept of mixed emotions alongside the fact that stooping down to someone's level in immaturity isn't healthy or productive and actually DOES make things worse even if its funny or satisfying or even that it's equal retribution. i think yeah its really fucked that that same empathy or attempt to understand him as a person or his motivations off rip doesnt ever seem to come back to dream from other ccs like pretty much ever, but this kind of thing bothers me because of the underlying assumption/connotation that hes kinda naïve or even misguided to be "too" empathetic in the first place. not true and thats not even what hes doing, it's not like hes making excuses for his (tommy's or anyone really) behavior or trying to defend him even. being firmly kind (not NICE mind you) is never the easy or fun choice and while WE may personally not like it and its easy for us as spectators to say he should be doing this that and the other and really rally to defend him (which i do think is good! it means we care about him in our own way) it's not like hes not doing it senselessly. it just means dream is not the one who is gonna take him out back and old yeller him even though someone really should (deactivate all his social media and get him an actual therapist that is not his enabling mother who "works with" autistic children) but either way point is its not his responsibility to be overly nice, but being kind despite despite despite at all isnt weakness or naive
