dex, 20s, he/she, queer af. 18+ nsfw. I write stuff, mostly on AO3 and mostly for batfam. requests are currently: closed. here be fandom nonsense- batfam, dnd, leverage, and lots of other stuff. bg by @dicewhored, icon by me

No copypasta has ever ruined my life as comprehensively as Hell Fuck Castle. I write tabletop RPGs, and now every time I read a lore blurb about an ancient ruined kingdom where everything was cool until the last ruler fucked it up, my brain whispers "King Big Sad Guy, who did the Flame Thing".

This one?

This has been so much fun, and you haven't seen the last of this blog! I'll be taking a break for a while, but I will reopen submissions later tonight. Stay tuned! Our next bracket(s) will likely be smaller, possibly themed, tournaments.

okay but there is something disquieting about this urge to cast fan writers as altruists. they give us all this for free!! well, no.

theyโ€™re sharing

itโ€™s a key difference in perception. fic isnโ€™t given. itโ€™s shared. itโ€™s part of a fandom communityโ€” in which readers are also an integral part.

itโ€™s probably inevitable mission creep from the increasingly transactional nature of the internet and fandom-as-consumerism, which was always gonna happen after corps worked out how much bank there is to make from those weirdo fan people

but like. fandom is sharing. i think weโ€™ve lost that somewhere.

huh. so i just found out "Torment Nexus" was invented for that one specific meme. i genuinely thought it was from an Orson Scott Welles novel. my ignorance is an unending source of surprise and delight

um. Orson Wells. H.G. Scott Welles. H. George Orson Orwell. Philip Bradbury. stop making me keep track of white men names

in my defense all of these are separate individuals famous within classic sci-fi circles:

  • H.G. Wells
  • George Orwell
  • (George) Orson Welles
  • Orson Scott Card

at some point this is not my burden

i could do a great one of those โ€œget ready with meโ€ morning routine videos. like hi welcome to my channel everyone! first thing i do when i wake in the morning is i step outside and i take a deep breath and i get real high and i scream from the top of my lungs whatโ€™s going onโ€”

and after that i try. oh my god do i try. i try all the time. in this institution
