i wanna just say, Chip’s character is even more tragic on the rewatch because now you know (partially) what led up to this. you know how he bartered violence for love after he lost everything. you know how deeply he loves the people around him, and just how scared he is not only of losing them but of letting them see who he is. they make it very clear from the beginning that Chip’s background is the haunted one. he clings to his past like it’ll save him, but the tighter he holds on the more lost he becomes. we don’t even know what happened to him in the hole in the sea, and he doesn’t either. idk man it’s just really sad.

The campaign that i go on about the most is called Riptide! (that's where the Gillion is from!) It's their main and public campaign that's been going on for quite a while, but it's currently on hiatus (perfect time to catch up :3)

Idk if im gonna be able to explain it well but I just remembered gillions wanted poster originally being like a drawing of a fish and I feel like that was used as a joke, but it could also be meant to show that the navy literally do not see gillion and his people as people they just see him as a fish. so just putting a fish in a suit of armor is enough to show that it's him which also most likely put other tritons at risk because “they’re all the same aren’t they?”

Love love love characters that present themselves as emotionally open social butterflies but the more you see of them the more obvious it is that they’re the most closed off fuckers in the story. Sure, they want to help you with your personal problems and messy emotions, but if you turn that shit back on them, they’ll shut down or deflect every time. Why are you sticking your nose in their business anyway? It’s not like it matters. They’re not a person, they’re just a role being played. They’re the guy who fixes things and saves people.
