herbie hancock, who has been one of my musical heroes since i was a teenager, recently confessed that his latest album was delayed 15 years because he “fell down too many youtube rabbit holes” and that honestly makes me feel a lot better about myself

i am currently reading three books, mostly non-fiction, one of which belongs to a friend so i really need to finish it, and i have like ten more on my list after that.. but i still just picked up Too Like The Lightning back off the shelf to "check something" and then kept going for a bit. maybe more than a bit. why _shouldn't_ i reread the entire series for a third time?? after all, why not?
ok i don’t know where else to brag about this nerdy shit lol
i’ve been reading one of antoine de saint-exupéry’s memoirs and decided to try recreating the first leg of his first mail route in microsoft flight simulator. toulouse to barcelona. i even bought a nicely modeled 3rd party nieuport from the early 20’s so that it would be fairly close to what he flew in the period. i didn’t look at any maps, i just used the compass in the virtual cockpit and my general sense of direction and knowledge of the region. and you know what i flew over the pyrenees and came down a river valley on the other side and it ended up pointed exactly at the barcelona airport! i was honestly surprised how dead on i managed to be without consulting a map even once on the trip
of course, it was clear weather the entire way i didn’t have to deal with storms or winter like he did, i’ll try that next
