‘silly, silly me’ i say after committing hideous crimes against men.

sometimes a trans headcanon is 5 pages of careful textual analysis and reasoning and sometimes it's "i know this doesn't make sense but it's my favourite character and i get to decide the gender" and sometimes you have both within the same media and that's beautiful.

one thing i always mourned about mononoke (series) is that we never got a scene of ri being followed by a butterfly/butterflies on his last scene. they made that his theme for the intro and outro yet he was never seen near them throughout any episode, so i assumed that maybe it would happen on the last episode–

and while i think his little speech is nice...they lost THE opportunity of their lives for not making him embrace his true insect lover self in the end.

Reasons why the medicine sellar (Kusuriuri) is most likely non binary/genderless/trans:

1. He is most likely some form of kistune, due to his fangs, ears, immortality, and the fact that his "hyper form" (I personally believe that his hyper form is a separate being called a Kamuy) turns gold, similar to a legend in which a Kistune turns gold when it reaches a certain age. Kitsunes are often depicted switching genders/being genderless, so it's possible Kusuriuri is the same.

2. He wears an obi (traditionally feminine) but has a masculine robe underneath

3. His lip makeup/tattoo is very similar to the kind Ainu women wear (seepictur below)

And wears a head garment similar to that worn by the Ainu people, along with a circular necklace (see below)

Along with that, usually Ainu women would have their face tattood while they were young and it would slowly be mad larger, so it would make since that Kusuriuri got the start of one but for some reason this tattoo could not be finished. This could possiblely lead to them being Non Binary, transgender, or just all around genderless.

4. Non binary people are baddies and so is Kusuriuri

Anyway bye

one of the things ive always wondered finally has an answer...

however, all i can think about now is how and why exactly did the sword and shingi choose their respective medicine seller? what made them stand out to be chosen?

they will definitely not touch on this subject ever, but im very curious about it now–
