There are so many occasions that Arthur gives Merlin genuine love eyes that I am too lazy to get all of them but here goes the top ones 😭

I feel like if Arthur came back and once things had finally settled, he would have been a complete adrenaline junkie. Like that man went from was fighting for his life every other weekday to all the comforts of 21st century life. Sure, he would still love to laze around, but he would get so restless after a while and end up dragging Merlin to go bungee jumping or some shit and end up giving him an actual heart attack every time.

I love that Arthur growing up with Uther a mass murderer and Morgana a badass girlboss became this pathetic soft himbo lump of 'no homo' i just want to have my five to twelve homoerotic, longing stares with my manservant every episode. I will marry a woman but let me gaze at his lips a little while longer I'll promise to be very hetero about it

It's supposed to be cute little illustration with soft palette...

So I was getting lost in a Merlin Wiki rabbit hole, as one does, and I stumbled across the page for spells. And turns out the writers actually put a lot more thought into it than I initially thought (they're not actually just shouting random words in Old English). But what shocked me the most was learning what Merlin was actually saying to Arthur while he was unconcious in the Poisoned Calice episode. I always thought he was trying to enchant some sort of protection spell to keep Arthur safe while he couldn't be there for him. But turns out he was actually declaring poetry, POETRY to Arthur the whole time!

That's right, Merlin was declaring actual POETRY to Arthur on his deathbed!! I kept seeing the wiki mention verses from a book called Beowulf and I got curious so after a quick Google search, I found out that it's actually one of the most famous epic poems in Old English and I just lost it!! I never thought this episode could get any gayer...

Leon talking to a recently returned Arthur, Gwen, and the knights: Sometimes Merlin just says things when he's drunk off his arse and you have to decide if its a problem or not.

Merlin, swiging from the first hard alcohol bottle he could find after wrangling the group to his house: I am going to blow up the moon.

Leon: Right now, for instance, we can just ignore that.

Merlin almost toppling as he stand and swaying dangerously as he walks out the back door: I'M GOING TO BLOW UP THE MOON

Leon: And now, we can not

***loud crashing sounds as Leon runs after him***

The current fictional scenario that I replay in my head before sleeping is Merlin jumping in front of Arthur when Morded stabs him and Merlin dying happy because he saved his king but Arthur is heartbroken and confesses his love as he begs Merlin not to leave him but then Merlin stops breathing and Arthur screams as he clings to Merlin's body. There is so much agony and pain and as the knights get to them they are trying to get Arthur to let go of Merlin but the king doesn't speak, he doesn't react at all.

Eventually they get Gwen (she and Arthur are close friends in this version of Camelot) to calm him but to no avail.

Slowly the daylight fades away as the king still cradles his manservant but then BADAM immortality hits and Merlin wakes up and they have a happy end.
