hey longtime fan here, not sure if you realized this but if my math is right I'm pretty sure summer/fall 2025 would mark 10 years since the release of Splatoon for the Wii U & the subsequent creation of Dottie and Stripes... dns nation needs to know which dates to mark our calendars for

2025 BIG YEAR FOR SQUIDNATION!! SPLATOON TURNING 10 IN MAY!!!?!!!! being here from the start i simultaneously cannot believe it's been that long but also can barely fathom my time on earth before and without dottie and stripes...

going by the first time i drew them each, dottie will turn 10 years old as a char on june 19th and stripes will turn 10 on august 21st!

this blog will turn 10 on september 25th and perhaps i will treat that as the big celebration because that's really when dottie and stripes truly solidified as characters for me. (even though they have changed so much from even those iterations!) i have some plans... perhaps these two have not pined in vain for a literal decade........................

Man. I love your splatoon OCs so much, my interest in splatoon has kind of tapered off since I ended up having a lot of trouble keeping up with the gameplay difficulty in 3 so now I'm more interested in Dottie and Stripes specifically than the games even! lol

seriously such a high compliment thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <33333 kfjkgf i get it though splat3 made it really hostile to playing just for fun it's not as enjoyable as i remember the earlier games being but still i persist out of masochism i suppose. BUT im in the mines to refine only the best dottie and stripes ore for myself and you all

I just want to stop in here quick and say 'thank you' and also 'you're a good sport'- I was the one that sent in the Darius music anon ask (and did so on anon because I was a little bit embarrassed about yapping ๐Ÿ˜…), solely cus I thought you'd find it amusing- I wasn't expecting you to draw a little comic based around it and it was a very sorley needed pick-me-up on what has been a kind of crummy day otherwise. Cheers for humouring me ๐Ÿซถ

Ok this is going to be a little bit rambly but I promise its going somewhere, so;

On the subject of Darius sharing his name with a series of SHMUPs where you fight mechanical fish + marine life of an eldritch origin (Darius lore is mental), one of the series' most enduring in-jokes comes from the second game, curtesy of the music that plays during the first stage. The intro to the song has (english) pilot chatter mixed into it- and its mostly standard stuff, sci-fi technojargon and the like... until all of a sudden the lady speaking just goes "I'VE ALWAYS WANTED A THING CALLED 'TUNA SASHIMI'", in what I *think* was meant to be a James Bond style wordplay one liner (cos, y'know, fighting fish innit), but it instead comes off as a contextless non-sequitur. I'm not sure what the policy on throwing links into asks is but it's fairly easy to search- it's the song titled Olga Breeze.

ALL OF WHICH IS TO SAY, bringing it back on topic; I now personally headcanon that Darius (the octoling) has never had Tuna Sashimi, and would really like to try some, but something always prevents him from being able to do so. Why? For my own amusement and absolutely nobody else's. The thought of this terminally grumpy and stoic man having a lifelong food craving that forever goes unfulfilled despite his best efforts scratches the same absurd comedy itch as him being weirdly attached to owning an iPad, at least for me. Let My Man Have Some Tuna Sashimi

(ok thats it rambly tangent over thank you for coming to my ted talk)
