Made burre blanc this evening for the first time
I think one of the things I like about Vegeta as a character is that he is a demonstration of the fact that an evil character can become a genuinely good person and be considered among the heroes of the story in the present, but they can also never be granted absolution for their past transgressions by the narrative itself. I really appreciate when it’s pretty clear that despite the other characters forgiving the villain-turned-hero, the narrative always finds ways to remind you that no penance can undo their past wrongdoings
#like when he acknowledged he can never make up for what he did?????#like I love that sort of thing#I think we as the viewer don’t really think about it much but he canonically has killed probably hundreds of millions if not billions#and now he just is considered a good guy by his friends but we’re reminded every once in a while#that he has done things that literally can never be undone or made up for
Sometimes the world building in dragon ball makes sense and is sort of genius. Like yeah saiyans have insane appetites bc they need that potential energy stored as calories to be converted to the kinetic/heat/light energy we see them using. And then sometimes it’s like yeah aliens have hot fudge sundaes and clowns??
