Hello! My name is Ronove (aka S. Jean) and this is my tumblr for various art, projects, and the like.

It’s me!

Hey! I’m S. Jean, but most people know me as Ronove! I am a queer writer, artist, and game dev rolled into one!

Currently I have my hands in way too many projects, but my big one right now is self-publishing some novels!

🌻HYMN OF MEMORY🌻 (released June 27th 2023) is the story of Morgan as his sacred job of Divine takes away his memory with every soul he sends into the afterlife. Before long, he fears he’ll lose who he is entirely. Until the familiar Fin falls into his room and gives him what he wants most: escape.

🌻 Its tag is Hymn of Memory (novel)!

🌠BORN OF SCOURGE🌠 (released February 27th 2024) is the story Sol, the fallen star who is meant to be humanity’s last hope, but instead wants to enact total revenge on humanity for what it’s done to the fallen star brethren before him. At least, that’s the plan until he begins to care for those he sought to eradicate.

🌠 Its tag is Born of Scourge (novel)!

🌌 WHEREVER THE STARS CALL 🌌  (releasing October 29th 2024) is the story of Laurel and Juniper, two runaways from the Galactic Federation of the Solar System, and the vampire they accidentally meet on the run.

Fun fact: Ronove is a Marquis and Great Earl of Hell in demonology and I originally found the name through Shadow Hearts: Covenant. For some reason it called to me and I’ve used it ever since.

Handy links with my stuff:

Anyway, stay rad out there!

Some top-notch indie books that I read from January to the end of March! I've mainly been reading graphic novels (as per usual...) and working through my trad advance copy backlist, so indie fic took a backseat. Regardless, these 3 really stood out from the 50 (!) other books I read this quarter.

Current reads include Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins (I love when she stresses me out for 400 pages at a stretch), Cottonopolis by S. F. Layzell, and I'm juuust wrapping up Trust the Plan by Will Sommer.

Lady of the Grave by F.S. Autumn

Artifice & Access (Anthology) edited by @ellatholmes with various contributors (really one of the best collections I've read in a long time, every story was enjoyable and I'm a picky person). Borrowed from the @queerliblib.

Get yourself someone who makes the world soft like how Raum makes Asher feel. I really liked writing their relationship in Errant Wings! They're cute and soft, but not without their problems! Asher's going through a lot in the story, so it was nice to give him someone like Raum to help make things better.

Errant Wings releases April 22nd! So close!!

Last night I finished reading the lovely story Hymn of Memory by S. Jean ( @earlronove) and man, what a unique and thought provoking book!

Morgan is a Divine, a person chosen by the Lord of Night-the god of the dead- to help the souls of the deceased move on to the afterlife. Chosen by the Lord of the Dead at twelve, and now seventeen, Morgan is one of, if not the, youngest Divines in recorded history. On the surface, this is an immense honor, but it comes at a high price-Morgan's own memories. The memories of the dead who pass on must pass through Morgan to get to the other side and be reborn, and sometimes Morgan feels as if he has more of the memories of dead people than his own in his head- he sometimes hallucinates things he experienced in memories of the deceased, and he feels many memories of his own life slipping away from him, even the names and faces of his own parents. Morgan fears that one day he'll wake up not knowing his own name or anything about himself, and no one will care as long as he still serves his function as Divine. So when an unexpected visitor gives him the chance to run away from his duties for an impromptu road trip, Morgan takes it.

I really enjoyed this book- anyone who knows my writing knows that explorations of death, gods, coming back from the dead, etc., is my jam sometimes. And this book struck so many of those chords, and very thoughtfully and meaningfully too, while still retaining an atmosphere that felt tender and almost dreamlike. The dash of romance was the cherry on top. I highly recommend this one for fans of fantasy, or anyone up for a thought provoking read to mull over while you walk outside, like I did after finishing this one. Seriously, there are a couple ending scenes and worldbuilding tidbits that I think might live rent free in my head now.

Here’s a couple actual links to concrete things you can do to help, as determined by the American Library Association, who already stopped this maniac from doing this once. There are many smart & experienced people fighting for libraries & museums, but they need your help too.

This link allows you to send your personal library story directly to Congress: https://oneclickpolitics.global.ssl.fastly.net/messages/edit?promo_id=23577

And this is a straightforward petition you can sign in about a minute: https://action.everylibrary.org/eoimls2025
