"I had the urge to cook." Her explanation for the basket she had brought along. As if the soft aroma didn't already give away the contents. "You seemed the most likely to enjoy some veggie pot stickers with me. Care for some?"
Eyes dart from the delightfully scented basket to her cheerful face with a wry knowing grin already curling across his muzzle. As if he was gonna resist a home cooked meal from her. "This feels like a trap of some sort... consider me caught. Cripes that smells good, Toothy. New recipe?"

MOTHER NATURE, GODDESS OF ALL CREATION, DOES NOT FLINCH. and no one, in all of creation, orders this proud and mighty goddess! yet aster does so, voice and frame trembling, and seraphina's gaze widens as her frame recoils with the unnerving quickness of a viper. for this brief moment of confusion, she retains her pookan form. her fur bristles and the small blooms within it shrink and die, falling to the earth as they would in the last gasping moments of a dogwood tree.
in the next second, where the gravity of the situation cuts through her shock ( and through her heart, yes, still does it beat! ), she of course retreats from this offensive form, her essence dropping like water into the budding grass below. out of sight, in vapors ephemeral and unseen, seraphina should feel safe. but the earth stills. the wind retreats, the animals quiet, and even the trees stand frozen and silent.
for this glade might as well be a grave, and mother nature is a creature at war with herself. an unruly adolescent bites back in anger, pull yourself together! i, too, lost everything! her pride begs her to put him in his place, to get him focused back onto retrieving the information she wants! but deeper still, a child trembles in fear, so desperately lonely that the prospect of having lost the only friend she's ever had makes her wail and cry and beg for forgiveness! in the span of just heartbeats, mother nature wrestles with an emotion she has not felt since she was a star, nearly decimating children on a far off planet: guilt.
she rises from the earth once more, her humanoid features calm and severe as ever, for she is no adolescent, nor is she a sniveling child. she is a god, and she will take her misstep with dignity, quietly reflecting on the prospect that in her long and lonely life, without even realizing, she had considered aster a friend...! what a fool she's been. how could she not see, until it is too late?
seraphina will remember this lost hope for a very long time.
"forgive me," she murmurs in a airy voice, almost distant -- for to be detached from her seems like the most comforting thing she can offer. despite this, she finds her hand moving upwards as though she were to rest it on the crook of his elbow, borne out of a deeper instinct to touch and to care and connect...! but she retracts it. a graceful, fluid movement that lacks embarrassment: she simply remembers what she is. still, her voice continues to be gentle. "i wasn't thinking."
The artifact seems to burn in his paws, Aster's claws could have scored it from the sheer force with which he held it. Like it is something that can anchor him from the spiraling storm the Pooka felt thrust into. Barely, he could sense the ripple of her realization before suddenly she wasn't there - but she was. Aster could sense her all around him, hidden in her own thoughts away from his sight. With a shaky breath, eyes clamped shut as he attempted to steady & reevaluate with his mental state.
It was all just too much in a single moment. A Pooka ( alive! brimming with life! ) before him with the joy of curiosity gleaming in soft golden pools as she held a Pookan reminder of home -- and none of it was real. None of it beyond that ache that pierced his chest with illogical yearning & joy at the sight of her. Only to be swiftly replaced with the agonizing truth of an impossible want he could never attain.
Aster's anger, his rage was hypocritical in truth. He was no better in the search for answers, in tapping into whatever possible crevice could yield results in an intriguing puzzle. Yet is till damn well ruddy hurt. She could have just handed it to him. She could have simply asked. The anger slowly ebbs into a bitter taste in his mouth. She was thoughtless but she wasn't purposeful in what she'd done to him. Even Aster can recognize they are more to each other than that - they were friends. At last he hears Seraphina's voice, the soft murmur for forgiveness with the voice of someone in their own pain & sorrow. With a final ache the Pooka pulls himself from the emotional mental fog with the reminder he is not alone in loss. Aster feels the faint yet electric sensation of her reaching towards him & as she pulls away he catches her.
Clinging to Seraphina's hand like it is a lifeline ( not a reminder of the dead like the artifact in his other paw. but a reminder of new life ) Aster pulls her to him. "Please. A moment." With no ceremony the Pooka deposits his head onto her shoulder, leaning in with a heavy sigh as he grounds himself. Goddess of the Earth be damned, Aster was using her as a headrest while he pulled himself from the panic into the present. She owed him that at least. Time beats on for the moment, his grip softening but never releasing ( there is comfort in this contact ) before at last Aster speaks with a husky, cracked voice. "It's a star map."

"I'll keep watch while you sleep."
"Don't you have a leaf kingdom ta get back ta at some point?" he chides her teasingly, no real poke to his query as Bunnymund eyed the leafmen with a sleepy gaze. He was oddly enough quite comfortable in the small warrior's presence, back tucked against the large roots of a tree with the sun's warmth luring him towards a nap. He'd admittedly overdone his prep this Spring but it'd all be worth it. Once the sleepy energy would lift from his bloody bones. Bunny yawns widely with a soft grumble before casting Tess an exasperated smile. "Watch out for the elf, last thing I need is a Sentinel covered in paint and chocolate roaming amok.... thank you."
